St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne is seeking an experienced physiotherapist to join as Orthopaedic Inpatient Senior Lead, a part-time role (31 hours per week) on a fixed term until 19 March 2027. You will lead the musculoskeletal inpatient team across Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Plastics, combining expert clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, including team coordination, staff supervision, quality improvement and research, and oversee the weekend Orthopaedic service. Key requirements include registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia (or eligibility), a minimum of seven years' post-graduate physiotherapy experience in an acute setting, and proven leadership and collaboration skills. An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated physiotherapist to join the St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne Physiotherapy Department as the Orthopaedic Inpatient Senior Lead.
Working within our musculoskeletal team, you will provide high-quality physiotherapy services to patients within the Orthopaedic, Rheumatology and Plastics Units at our Fitzroy campus. This senior role combines advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, including team coordination, staff supervision, quality improvement and research.
You will play a key leadership role within both the Physiotherapy Department and the Orthopaedic multidisciplinary team, supporting service excellence and driving innovation in patient care.

Classifications for this position will be VB7 – VC1 ($104,135 - $118,981 per annum, pro rata for part time).
Provide leadership and coordination of the musculoskeletal inpatient physiotherapy team.
Deliver expert assessment and physiotherapy management for patients within the Orthopaedic, Rheumatology and Plastics Units.
Lead and support quality improvement and research initiatives within the musculoskeletal team.
Coordinate and oversee the Orthopaedic weekend service.
Supervise and support physiotherapists, Allied Health Assistants and undergraduate students.
Manage the clinical education program for undergraduate physiotherapy students.
Provide specialist physiotherapy consultancy across the hospital as required.
Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, meetings and discharge planning activities.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
A minimum of seven years' post-graduate physiotherapy experience.
Extensive experience in physiotherapy management within an acute healthcare setting.
Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervision and professional development of physiotherapists, students and support staff.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
A commitment to evidence-based practice, service improvement and research.
Desirable:
Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant area of physiotherapy, or current enrolment towards a postgraduate qualification.
