SGS is currently looking for Pipeline Inspectors (General, Welding & Coating) in multiple locations in Northern Ontario.  Work will be assigned on a as needed basis and will be paid for the hours/days and other applicable cost items for the hours/days spent on the assigned work. The work duration could be a day or several days or several weeks.

Pipeline Inspectors (General, Welding & Coating)

Northern Ontario | 6–8 Positions Available

$900/Day

SGS is currently seeking 6–8 experienced Pipeline Inspectors to support a large integrity dig program in Northern Ontario.

We are actively recruiting:

  • General Inspectors
  • Welding Inspectors
  • Coating Inspectors

Candidates with welding or coating inspection experience are highly preferred; however, experienced pipeline inspectors with strong construction inspection backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Depending on assignment, responsibilities may include:

  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, procedures, codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, tailboards, and field-level hazard assessments (FLHAs).
  • Exercise Stop Work Authority when unsafe acts or conditions are identified.
  • Verify contractor compliance with site-specific safety plans and quality requirements.
  • Oversee integrity dig activities including excavation, trenching, backfilling, restoration, welding, coating, and related construction activities.
  • Review and verify Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and quality documentation.
  • Identify and report construction, safety, and quality non-conformances.
  • Complete daily inspection reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with contractors, project teams, and stakeholders to support successful project execution.
  • Participate in incident investigations, quality walkdowns, lessons learned sessions, and project closeout activities.

Qualifications

General Inspector Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of General Inspection experience
  • API 1169 Certification
  • API 1184 Certification
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline construction processes and procedures
  • Oil & gas pipeline and/or industrial facilities experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred

  • 8–10 years of oil & gas pipeline and industrial facilities experience
  • Red Seal Trade Certification

Coating Inspector Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years of Coating Inspection experience
  • API 1169 Certification
  • API 1184 Certification
  • AMPP/NACE CIP Level 1
  • AMPP/NACE CIP Level 2 preferred
  • Knowledge of coating inspection codes and standards
  • Manufacturing training and/or product exposure
  • Oil & gas pipeline and industrial facilities experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Welding Inspector Qualifications

Required

  • 8–10 years of Welding/Welding Inspection experience on pipelines or industrial facilities
  • API 1169 Certification
  • API 1184 Certification
  • CSA W178.2 Level 1 or Level 2
  • Strong knowledge of CSA Z662 and/or ASME B31.3
  • Oil & gas pipeline and industrial facilities experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Engineer, Technician, Technologist, Red Seal Journeyman, or Designated Specialist background

Preferred

  • B-Pressure Welding experience
  • Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring inspection teams
  • Welding or NDE/NDT degree, diploma, or certification
  • CGSB NDT Level 2
