Job Description

What will you be doing? 

We are looking for a skilled Piping Design Engineer to support on-site piping design activities for a major nuclear project. The role will involve collaborating across multiple disciplines, solving engineering challenges, and ensuring the successful installation of pipework and associated supports.

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Gather and analyse relevant input data to inform piping designs.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including contractors and other engineering teams, to clarify design issues.
  • Produce and review technical assessments, including site requests and design queries related to piping, supports, and anchorage.
  • Provide guidance and support to other teams, including layout and transverse design, as needed.
  • Perform hand calculations and use software tools to verify the feasibility of proposed modifications.
  • Recommend and implement modifications when design criteria are not met.
  • Resolve open design points and address feedback from stakeholders.
  • Integrate modifications from external inputs after design packages are handed over.
  • Use calculation notes and subcontractor drawings to guide design decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with QA procedures in all design activities.
  • Work closely with CAD designers and detailers to produce accurate design drawings.
  • Support updates to site documentation, including tolerance notes and standard solution catalogues.

Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

  • Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in piping design and on-site engineering support.
  • Knowledge of pipework, supports, anchorage, and associated design calculations.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and design documentation practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
