The United Workers Union is seeking a highly motivated Political Organiser in Adelaide, South Australia.
The position is part of the national political team that is responsible for coordinating political programs across the country.
Candidates with experience in union or related organising and campaigning will be highly regarded.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build active and sustainable organising structures that contribute to achieving the Objects of the Union.
• Create and work to organising plans ensuring membership growth; member leadership and action; and winning industry power.
• Assess and support the development of delegates and members
• Ensure that the Union’s values of equity, diversity and inclusion are upheld and promoted.
• Assist with the organisation of lobbying at all levels of Government.
• Engage in electoral campaigning for United Workers Union target seats across the Country
• Implement other strategies and campaigns as developed by the Executive Director and National Coordinators of the Political portfolio
• Ensure that the Union’s values of equity, diversity and inclusion are upheld and promoted.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
An Organiser demonstrates:
• A passion and drive to improve workers’ lives and achieving the goals of the Union.
• A capacity to organise across political portfolios within the Australian Labor Party.
• Good communication, messaging and rapport building skills.
• An ability to develop members, including motivating and educating others.
• An ability to participate in the unions political and social justice agenda.
• An ability to plan and organise work and achieve outcomes.
• Experience as political organiser preferred but not essential.
• Experience in election campaigning preferred but not essential.
• Ability to work flexible arrangements. This includes some weekend and night work, and occasional intra and interstate travel.
To perform this job, you will also be required to have or obtain and maintain:
• A valid driver’s licence; and
• Right of Entry Permits; and
• Immunisation against COVID-19 or have a medical exemption
REMUNERATION
An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant, which will include:
• Salary commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience;
• A motor vehicle allowance or motor vehicle;
• 16% superannuation
• 6 weeks annual leave plus 25% leave loading
