As a Precision Farming Research Intern, you will contribute to the development of innovative methods and technologies for precision agriculture in orchards/vineyards. This role covers a broad spectrum of activities, including algorithm design, software development, digital twin development, simulation, and optimization of agricultural operations. The objective is to improve the productivity, efficiency, and sustainability of Kubota's agricultural machinery and digital farming solutions.

Position within the Organization
You will work as part of the Kubota Technology Innovation Europe (KTI-EU)
team, contributing to research and development projects under the guidance of experienced research engineers and scientists.

Responsibilities
As a Precision Farming Research Intern, you will:
- Analyze agricultural datasets (e.g., imagery, point clouds, GPS, and geospatial data) to characterize field variability and crop conditions.
- Develop algorithms and digital twin models to support precision agriculture applications in orchards.
- Simulate and optimize agricultural operations, including machinery performance, route planning, and input application strategies.
- Develop software prototypes and user interfaces to support research outcomes and decision-making tools.
- Design and support field experiments to validate models, algorithms, and operational concepts.
- Communicate research outcomes through reports, presentations, and technical discussions with colleagues and project stakeholders.
Work Environment
- Based at Kubota's office in Nieuw-Vennep, The Netherlands.
- Hybrid working arrangements are possible, with several days per week spent in the office (flexible and negotiable).

Requirements
- Currently pursuing a BSc, MSc, or PhD in Agricultural/Biosystems Engineering, Computer Science, Geographic Information Science (GIS), Remote Sensing, Robotics, Data Science, or a related field.
- Available for an internship period of at least 4 months.
- Strong interest in Precision Agriculture and agricultural technologies.
- Knowledge of Geographic Information Science (GIS), geospatial data processing, or related technologies.
- Experience with Python programming and version control using Git.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Language skills
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
