Cygnify, a Dubai-based tech company focused on hardware and software integration, is seeking a Principal Hardware & Software Test Engineer to own early testing and real-world performance assessment. The role is full-time and onsite in Dubai, inviting someone who likes shaping testing strategy across hardware, software and IoT components and collaborating with product, design and engineering teams. This is a good fit for someone who enjoys turning data into insight and driving quality from concept through launch.

The successful candidate will act as a technical authority within Test & QA, leading alpha test initiatives, ensuring lab results align with design quality, and delivering clear communications to senior stakeholders. They will build dashboards to monitor software and hardware quality, apply AI/ML and advanced analytics to improve detection reliability and testing efficiency, and guide the requirements analytics and test specification work across the product lifecycle.

If you want to work at the intersection of hardware and software testing, enjoy data-driven decision making, and are excited by shaping QA processes in a multidisciplinary team, you should consider this opportunity.

Day-to-day in the test lab and beyond

As the lead for alpha testing, you’ll drive initiatives to surface issues early in product development and assess performance under real-world conditions. You’ll verify that lab outcomes align with design quality to ensure seamless integration of hardware with software.

You’ll examine in-life product quality and related data streams to extract actionable insights, and build a quality dashboard that serves as an early warning for both software and hardware health, known as SWHWPS.

You’ll develop robust product-level test specifications and analytically review product requirements, making sure test plans are ready before milestones like Target Set, supporting design and engineering teams from concept through post-launch production. You’ll push for new testing approaches, including AI/ML and advanced data analytics, to improve reliability and efficiency. As the technical reference within Test & QA, you’ll partner with Development, Operations, Quality and Design to weave testing into the product lifecycle, and you’ll report progress and quality status to senior stakeholders across teams.

The essentials for success

Cygnify is looking for a seasoned professional with deep experience in product quality and hardware–software testing, ideally with a track record spanning alpha and in-life testing activities.

  • A track record spanning at least seven years in product quality or software testing
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer engineering or electronic engineering, or a related field
  • Strong Python skills for data manipulation and statistics, with hands-on use of Pandas and NumPy, and the ability to create automated visuals using Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly
  • Proficiency in building automated dashboards in Tableau or Power BI and the ability to translate Python-processed data into intuitive visuals for senior leadership
  • Solid SQL abilities for querying complex datasets, plus experience with modern cloud data platforms like AWS Redshift
  • Deep knowledge of electronics hardware and how it interfaces with software systems
  • Experience with software in IoT products, including embedded software, apps, cloud services and ML
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to present technical information clearly to executives and non-technical leaders
  • Strong multitasking ability to manage multiple product deliverables and schedules at once

Tips to stand out in this search

Lead your resume with your seven-plus years in product quality or software testing and call out any leadership roles on alpha tests or real-world performance studies, especially where you influenced design decisions.

Show how you turn Python-driven data into dashboards: mention your use of Pandas and NumPy for data processing, and your experience delivering automated visuals with Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly, plus dashboards built in Tableau or Power BI that leadership can use to track progress.

Be ready to discuss your role as a technical authority within QA and provide concrete examples of cross-functional collaboration with Development, Operations, Quality and Design, including how you report progress to senior stakeholders.

Ask a smart question about how the SWHWPS dashboard informs priorities: for instance, which metrics matter most to leadership and how test results steer hardware and software decisions across lifecycle stages.
