The Principal, HR Investigations is part of the People Division, serving as a key subject matter expert in complex team member relations matters and influencing enterprise-wide investigation practices. This role partners closely with senior leaders across Labor, Legal, People Business Partners, and other functions to drive fair, consistent, and compliant outcomes while strengthening investigation quality and governance. With high visibility and impact, the position leads complex investigations and guides solutions that enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and the overall team member experience.

 

What you'll do

  • Investigate complex team member relations matters, including harassment, discrimination, and other sensitive investigations
  • Provide strategic guidance on investigation approach, planning, and execution to ensure fair, consistent, and timely outcomes
  • Conduct quality reviews of investigations to ensure adherence to policies, standards, and best practices
  • Partner with Labor, Legal, People Business Partners, and other stakeholders to align on case strategy and resolution
  • Translate investigation trends and insights into actionable recommendations that mitigate risk and improve the workplace environment
  • Lead and support initiatives to enhance investigation processes, frameworks, and governance models
  • Coach and mentor investigators to build capability, consistency, and sound judgment across the function
  • Support end-to-end investigations as needed, providing oversight and guidance on complex or high-risk matters
  • Collaborate across the People team to reinforce education, awareness, and training initiatives
 

All you'll need for success

 

Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience 

  • Juris Doctorate, Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience/training
  •  7+ years of experience in Team Member Relations, HR Investigations, or related field

 

Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience 

  • Experience in a large, complex, or highly regulated organization
  • Advanced knowledge of workplace investigations frameworks and governance models
  • Experience leading or mentoring investigators or HR professionals
  • Familiarity with case management systems and reporting tools
  • Experience driving process improvement or transformation initiatives

 

Skills, Licenses, and Certifications

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated experience handling complex and sensitive investigations
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and investigation best practices
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality in high-risk situations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Expertise in investigative techniques and case evaluation
  • Exceptional judgment and decision-making capabilities
  • Advanced stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion
  • Ability to translate data and insights into strategic actions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • HR certification (SHRM or HRCI) preferred
