Job Description

As part of our continued investment in our People function, we are creating three new Principal People Partner opportunities within our enterprise People team. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, these senior individual contributor roles will partner with Executives and senior leaders to translate business strategy into practical, forward-looking people priorities. One role will support our veterinary services team, and two will support our retail teams.

Based in our North Ryde Support Office and reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will operate within our enterprise-wide People Operating Model as the key relationship holder for your aligned business portfolio. You will connect leaders with specialist Centres of Excellence across Talent Acquisition, People Systems, Learning and Organisational Development, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Employment Relations and Reward.

What You’ll Do

  • Build trusted partnerships with Executives and senior leaders as a strategic adviser, coach and constructive challenger.

  • Shape workforce strategy, talent priorities, succession planning and organisational effectiveness for your aligned portfolio. (Retail or Vet Services)

  • Lead organisation design and operating model work, including role clarity, accountabilities, decision rights and ways of working.

  • Use workforce insights, engagement data and business performance context to identify risks, opportunities and clear action plans.

  • Partner with specialist People teams to deliver integrated, scalable solutions across employee relations, reward, recruitment, learning, safety and systems.

  • Coach leaders through change, transformation and complex people decisions while balancing commercial outcomes with employee experience.

About You

You are an experienced senior People and Culture professional who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments. You bring strong commercial judgement, deep people expertise and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders in a matrixed model.

  • Significant People and Culture experience, including substantial experience partnering with Executive and senior leaders. (previous retail/FMCG or Animal/Veterinary industry experience will be highly regarded) a minimum of 8 plus years in a similar role.

  • Strong capability across strategic business partnering, workforce planning, organisation design, talent, succession, performance, reward and leadership coaching.

  • Experience working in a large, complex, multi-site or operational organisation; retail, healthcare, consumer or similarly dispersed environments will be highly regarded.

  • Demonstrated ability to use data, analytics and commercial context to shape people priorities and remuneration decisions.

  • High-quality facilitation, written communication and executive presentation skills.

  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, Organisational Psychology or a related discipline; postgraduate study is desirable.

Qualifications
