Principal Process Engineer
WorleyWorley is seeking a Principal Process Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team on site, full-time. The role sits in the process discipline and calls for someone who can shape technical direction, mentor others, and help win and deliver major projects. Requisition ABU02FM is the job reference, and the posting has a date of Oct 10, 2026 with an unposting date of Jan 8, 2027.
The position is based in ARE-AD-Abu Dhabi City and reports to a Senior Manager, Process Engineer. It’s a fit for a senior process engineer with a strong oil & gas background who enjoys leading multi-disciplinary teams, managing project delivery, and interfacing with clients, suppliers and contractors.
Steering the process discipline on major projects
Day to day, the Principal Process Engineer will shape the execution strategy for the discipline, contribute to proposals, and possibly lead all or part of technical proposals. The role involves planning man hours, schedules and staffing to meet project needs, ensuring coverage during vacations and absences, and mentoring colleagues while supporting performance reviews. It also means driving adherence to health, safety, environment and security requirements, resolving cross-discipline or vendor issues, and helping standardize equipment specifications, drawings and document templates. The work includes guiding the technical direction of process design, coordinating onshore and offshore practices, and taking technical control of the process scope across projects. The job also calls for participating in project execution planning, reviewing documentation, running weekly process discipline meetings, and overseeing the workload of a team of process engineers and designers within schedule and budget constraints. Deliverables range from engineering studies and analyses to final documentation for customer approval, and include leading the production of detailed designs, drawings, data, calculations and reports. Procurement support and involvement in commissioning activities may also come into play, all while upholding Worley’s quality and safety standards.

Advice for applicants
Lead with your leadership of process teams. Put your total of 15 years’ design experience up front, and highlight your last five years spent guiding a team of process engineers and designers on oil & gas projects.
Show how you prove you meet the must‑have skills by tying them to concrete results. Include examples where you applied API standards, managed scope and budgets, and delivered complex designs or debottlenecking projects on schedule.
Be ready to discuss your experience with the listed simulation and pipeline tools. Prepare a concise portfolio or case study that demonstrates how you used Aspen, Hysys, Pipesys, PRO-II or OLGA and related software to run a project from feasibility through detailed design.
Think of a sharp question to ask about the team and project approach. A good one could be about how Worley standardizes equipment specifications and document templates across large offshore programs and how the Principal Process Engineer influences those templates on active projects.
