Product Manager - Payments & Finance (m/f/d)

In this role you will own and shape our accounting and payments-related products, ensuring they solve the right business problems and deliver measurable value. You will work within the Product organisation, with a strong focus on product strategy, prioritisation and cross-functional alignment, supported by business analysis rather than deep technical system design.
What you will do
- Own the product vision and roadmap for accounting and payments-related products, aligning it with company strategy, regulatory needs and operational priorities.
- Lead product discovery to understand customer and business problems, payment and accounting flows, and opportunities to simplify, automate and scale across products and operations.
- Work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Risk, Compliance and Engineering to align on priorities, scope and expected outcomes.
- Define clear product goals and success metrics, and ensure initiatives are driven by measurable business impact.
- Translate business and customer needs into clear product direction, including well-defined epics, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Continuously prioritise the product backlog, balancing value, risk, dependencies and delivery capacity.
- Partner with engineering and design to break down complex initiatives into MVPs and iterative releases that deliver value early.
- Drive alignment and clarity across teams by explaining the business context, product intent and trade-offs behind decisions.
- Assess impact and feasibility of proposed changes, particularly those affecting payments, accounting and ledgers, in collaboration with engineering and domain experts.
- Support delivery by leading planning and backlog refinement, ensuring teams are focused on the most valuable outcomes.
- Validate delivered functionality against intended business behaviour and product goals, and use feedback and data to inform next steps.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner or in a closely related product role within a software or financial services environment.
- Proven experience owning and evolving products that involve complex business processes, ideally in fintech, payments or accounting domains.
- Strong ability to define product strategy, prioritise effectively and communicate a clear product vision to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating closely with engineers, designers and analysts throughout the product lifecycle.
- Ability to translate complex business and regulatory needs into clear, actionable product requirements.
- Strong analytical skills, comfortable using data, reports and KPIs to inform decisions and measure success.
- Experience using product and delivery tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Experience defining, tracking and iterating on product KPIs in a product-led organisation.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to align different perspectives and drive decisions.
- Fluency in English. German language skills are a strong plus, as many stakeholders are German-speaking.
Nice to have
- Fluency in one of the following languages: German, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish.
- Experience in payments, finance, accounting or BNPL, for example working with reconciliations, settlements, ledgers or booking logic.
