A day in the life of inventory control

You’ll also support branch warehouses with their inventory control procedures, working with teams across Purchasing, Production and Materials Management to keep operations accurate and efficient.

If you like turning data into reliable operations and you enjoy hands-on work on the warehouse floor, you’ll find this a compelling place to contribute and grow.

  • Good interpersonal skills and a constructive, positive approach when engaging with others
  • Excellent attention to detail and clear verbal and written communication
  • A habit of raising issues promptly and documenting work clearly
  • Familiarity with the computers and software needed to perform the job’s responsibilities

Nice-to-haves:

  • Will to work full shifts (8, 10, or 12 hours) with overtime when required in a warehouse setting
  • Good eyesight for reading small print and the ability to hear and interact with supervisors and teammates
  • Comfort with operating, activating, using, preparing and cleaning equipment, including occasional overhead or wrist movements
  • Willingness to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed during a shift
  • Ability to work in a moderately noisy environment and to move or lift items up to 55 pounds repeatedly
  • Sufficient range of motion to reach overhead and to the side during tasks
  • Capability to ascend or descend a ladder while carrying up to 20 pounds

The role is onsite in Summerville, with a shift arrangement that starts as 2:00pm–10:30pm or 3:00pm–11:30pm, Monday through Friday, then transitions starting November 1 to a 4x10 schedule: 2:00pm–12:30am, Sunday through Wednesday. Thorne offers a competitive compensation package and a broad benefits program, reflecting the company’s commitment to its people. In addition to healthcare coverage that is 100% company-paid for employees, the company also covers short- and long-term disability insurance and life insurance. There’s gym membership reimbursement, a monthly allowance of Thorne supplements, and paid time off plus volunteer time off and holiday leave. Advice for applicants

Put the most relevant line up front on your resume. Lead with a summary that spots ERP/MRP experience, inventory control work, data-entry speed and a track record of accuracy, then back it up with a concise, quantifiable example from a prior role.

Show how you prove the must-have skills. In your resume and during interviews, describe a time you investigated a discrepancy in inventory, identified the root cause, and implemented a fix that improved accuracy or reduced variances, especially if it involved cycle counts or unit-of-measure alignment.

Be ready for interviews with concrete process-improvement ideas. The team looks to reduce errors and boost efficiency, so share a real example of how you helped streamline procedures, coordinate with multiple departments, and measure the impact on location- or item-level accuracy.

Ask a smart question that signals you’re thinking about the role in practice. For example, inquire about the ERP/MRP system currently in use, and ask how the upcoming shift to a 4x10 schedule might affect inventory cycles and cross-department collaboration.
