Coal Services is looking for an experienced Program Manager to assist Coal Services Business Units to deliver successful projects while meeting schedule, budget and quality requirements in accordance with the approved governance and project management framework. This position will be responsible for managing complex, cross-functional projects, ensuring clear alignment to business goals and strategic priorities.
About the role:
This position works closely with key stakeholders and delivers projects on behalf of Coal Services Business Units. This is a non-operational role, which plans the projects and ensures the projects deliver on the business requirements to agreed timeframes, cost, and quality standards. The ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, drive progress with clarity and accountability, and deliver tangible value is essential to succeed in this role.
Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
• Program Planning – Develop and maintain integrated program plans, including milestones, interdependencies, resource needs, budget, and risk profile.
• Governance & Reporting – Maintain effective program governance, including steering committees, working groups, and executive reporting cycles. Prepare high quality, concise progress reports, dashboards, and insights to enable informed decision making.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Communication – Build strong relationships and ensure effective communication with all stakeholders.
• Delivery Leadership & Coordination – Overseeing and coordinating multiple related projects, ensuring they deliver intended benefits. Engaging with and influencing cross-functional teams to successfully deliver projects.
• Risk, Issue & Dependency Management – Proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies across the program ensuring Project Sponsors and the Project Management Office are advised of any potential issues or risks.
About you:
Demonstrated Results
• A track record of successfully delivering large or multi year programs on time, within budget, and aligned to strategic objectives.
• Evidence of driving benefits realisation and embedding sustainable business change.
• Experience recovering challenged programs and resolving complex risks, issues, or dependencies.
Experience & Background
• Significant experience leading programs in complex environments (e.g., technology, transformation, regulatory, organisational change).
• Experience managing multiple project managers, vendors, and cross functional teams.
• Strong background in governance, financial management, and program reporting.
Education & Certifications
• Tertiary qualifications in business, technology, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Relevant certifications such as MSP, PMI PgMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent (highly regarded but not mandatory).
