At Worley in Tauranga, we’re expanding our team and looking for an experienced Project Engineer with a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background to join us.

We’re passionate about servicing the energy transition sector (where we are involved in some fantastic projects around New Zealand – Renewable Generation, Battery Energy Storage and helping our customers on their Decarbonisation journeys) as well as the tanks and terminals and chemical sectors from our Tauranga office.

What you’ll do

The role responsibilities include:

• Ensures projects are delivered at or below the approved budget and that proper change control processes are understood and used by the project team.
• Ensures Worley approved systems, processes & tools are deployed and complied with on the project in fit for purpose way.
• Identify potential technical risks and effectively develops risk mitigation, contingency and resolution plans. 
• Set clear objectives for the project team including scope, schedule, productivity and budget targets.
• Requires onsite presence from time to time to ensure construction is being performed to plan and design.
• Make independent decisions based on established guidelines, taking into account the cost and schedule impact to the project.
• Daily administration of project and/or Worley policies and processes in order for the projects team to meet business objectives.
• Work with self-initiated interaction with supervisor and self-initiated technical guidance.
• Apply knowledge of all aspects of project engineering to oversee successful technical coordination.
• Maintains HSE focus within the team to ensure HSE requirements are included in design and procurement.

What you’ll have

• A University degree or equivalent in engineering or equivalent experience with professional registration in local jurisdiction.
• Previous engineering experience.
• End to end project delivery experience including on-site construction management of small projects
• Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.
• Can organise information from many sources and retain as per the prescribed format and policies.
• Understanding of project budgets, project resource plans and earned value tracking.
• Understanding of project schedules and resource plan requirements for technical aspects of the project.
• The ability to clearly and professionally communicate with project stakeholders and project teams.
• A positive and respectful attitude that fosters collaboration and teamwork to ensure the successful outcome of projects.
