A day in the life of a Remote Project Engineer

Day to day, you’ll steer key projects from inception to delivery, ensuring client requirements and timelines are met while looking for ways to improve performance and reliability. You’ll work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to maintain clear communication across teams, and you’ll guide changes across firewalls, servers, networking and wireless infrastructure to keep systems secure and efficient. Your role will center on client satisfaction, adaptability and proactive collaboration to keep projects on track and well documented for all involved.

You’ll balance hands-on technical work with strategic planning, coordinating activities across remote teams and multiple clients, and you’ll translate complex technical details into accessible updates for non-technical stakeholders. The job blends technical execution with relationship building, so your ability to manage expectations and resolve issues quickly will be key.

What the team needs from you

Must-have capabilities

• You should have proven experience working with distributed, remote teams.
• You’ll be hands-on or remote with deployment and troubleshooting across endpoints, servers, cloud tech and networks.
• You must be comfortable in a fast-paced consulting environment where priorities can shift quickly.
• Familiarity with professional services automation or ticketing platforms such as ConnectWise is a plus but not required.
• Prior experience in a managed services provider environment supporting multiple clients is a plus.
• Experience using remote monitoring and management tools such as Kaseya or LabTech/ConnectWise Automate is a plus.

Nice-to-have capabilities

• Experience setting up and configuring hypervisors, including VMware ESXi and Nutanix Acropolis.
• Hands-on deployments in the cloud across platforms like AWS, Azure-related services, and other cloud tools such as Purview, Power Automate, Egnyte, Cloudflare, QuickBooks Online, Apple MDM, and Citrix ShareFile.
• Ability to support endpoint and Apple ecosystem deployments, including macOS and iOS devices.
• Experience deploying and configuring equipment such as Cisco/Dell switches, SonicWall and Fortinet firewalls, and Cisco Meraki or Ubiquiti WAPs.

Pay, benefits and practical details

A strong command of English is required, both spoken and written.

To be considered, you’ll need a home office that includes a capable computer (minimum 8 GB RAM) running Windows 11 with an Intel i5/i7 (8th generation or newer) or an AMD Ryzen 5/7 (2000 series or newer), or macOS 12 or newer; a stable internet connection of at least 25 Mbps upload and download; a noise-cancelling headset; a smartphone capable of installing the Microsoft Authenticator app; an HD webcam; a second monitor; and a UPS if you’re using a desktop.
