Berghof Foundation seeks a Project Officer (all genders) to support Ethiopian-led peace efforts from Berlin, full-time onsite, starting 15 February 2026 on a limited contract until 31 January 2027 with possible extension. The role includes coordinating narrative and financial reporting, working with finance and logistics on budgets, developing concept notes and agendas, and conducting background research. A master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations or similar, plus initial experience with international projects and budget management, are required. Core strengths are curiosity, empathy, commitment, and willingness to travel to Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa, plus experience in remote collaboration and intercultural coordination and English at C1.  The Project Officer (all genders) will support Ethiopian-led and Ethiopian-owned peace efforts, contributing to organizing, coordinating, and implementing activities, in close cooperation with colleagues across Berghof Foundation and its partner CDRC.

  • Support the project team in coordinating narrative and financial reporting across the various workstreams, including contributions to project proposals, donor reports, as well as financial and administrative procedures. 
  • Close collaboration with finance managers and colleagues working on logistics regarding budget planning and project activities.
  • You contribute to the development of concept notes, agendas and other relevant documents for the implementation of project activities and events.  
  • You conduct background research and develop abstracts about relevant topics.
  • You hold a master’s degree within relevant field such as Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations or similar field.
  • You have first relevant work experience (e.g. in contributing to international projects with local partners, budget management, et al.) 
  • Curiosity, empathy, passion, commitment and perseverance.
  • You are willing to travel to Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa more broadly, including to high-risk areas, as required. 
  • You have experience in remote communication and cooperation, event organization and logistics, budget management and coordination of tasks in an international and intercultural setting. 
  • Excellent verbal and written language skills in English (at least C1-leve)
