Alfred Health is seeking a Psychology Grade 2 to join the Forensic Youth Mental Health Services in Moorabbin, full-time until November 2026. You will work with the ICYAMHWS CFYMHS team and the SCRJE early intervention program, delivering forensic mental health assessment, formulation and intervention for youth at risk of justice engagement, with outreach travel as required. The Department

Alfred Infant Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS) is friendly to infants, children, young people and their families/carers.  

We provide accessible mental health services inclusive of family, friends and support networks.  

We are a specialist, multi-disciplinary and intensive care mental health service incorporating the lived and living experience of family peer specialists and youth peer workers.

SUPPORTING CHILDREN AT RISK OF JUSTICE ENGAGEMENT (SCRJE)

This program aims to deliver specialised consultation, assessment, and intervention at the earliest point possible to address the forensic needs of at least 20 children aged 10-11 (or 12-13 found Doli incapax) at risk of justice engagement with high harm behaviours/or complex needs.

The Role

In this role, you will work as part of the broader CFYMHS team to provide specialist forensic mental health assessment, formulation, and intervention to CFYMHS clients, including the Supporting Children at Risk of Justice Engagement (SCRJE) early intervention program for youth aged 13 and below. The role will also provide ongoing consultation to treating teams and stakeholders, and outreach work (travel) to meet with clients as required. The role will also demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of clinical and forensic presentations in children and youth related to the interaction between criminogenic, developmental, family, systemic and mental health factors, as well as to contribute to treatment planning, safety planning and coordinated care responses.

Experience and Qualifications Required

Essential

• Masters or Doctoral degree(s) in Forensic and/or Clinical Psychology.
• Registration with the Psychology Board via AHPRA as a psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009).

Desirable

• Membership of the APS.
• Experience conducting mental health, forensic and/or alcohol and other drug assessment and intervention in partnership with young people and their families.
• Experience in working within a positive multidisciplinary team environment.
• Experience working with a range of community agencies, demonstrated ability to consult and liaise with other service providers.
