Quality Assurance / Control Technician

(Contract)

The primary role of the Quality Assurance / Quality Control Technician is to support the Food Safety and Quality Management System through routine quality assurance, laboratory testing, product verification, documentation control, and product release activities.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  • Supports food safety and quality systems by implementing procedures and enforcing GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements.
  • Performs sampling, testing, and analysis (pH, Brix, temperature, weights).
  • Conducts in-process checks and monitors CCP/OPRP requirements.
  • Coordinates internal and external lab testing and maintains documentation.
  • Reviews batch documentation and facilitates product release.
  • Maintains records and supports SOP/document control.
  • Supports GMP inspections and certification requirements.
  • Performs lab housekeeping, sanitation, and inventory monitoring.
  • Collaborates with Production, R&D, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Sanitation.
  • Supports investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Follow all Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
  • Ensure safe handling and disposal of lab materials.
  • Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.
  • Report hazards and unsafe conditions.

Skills, Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible to work shifts and weekends.
