Job Summary

 

Performs quality control inspections, checks, and tests products during the manufacturing process. Inspects materials, parts, and products at different phases of the production cycle. Records observations and makes recommendations for process or production improvements. Examines products and materials for defects or deviations from specifications.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Perform quality control inspections, checks and tests during the manufacture of products
  • Inspect the quality of products according to standards, and remove junk from production line
  • Inspect parts and products at different stages of production
  • Perform regular inspections of all raw material handling from start to finish looking for issues that can effect quality
  • Preparation of materials and products for testing in-house and 3rd party
  • Test all products and raw materials and record results; monthly in-house and bi-annual 3rd party minimum
  • Sampling and reduction (cutting) of samples
  • Compiles, interprets and analyze results, tests reports and makes recommendations for improving processes. Email all test results and reports to management once complete.
  • Ensure all production measuring devices are regularly calibrated and properly maintained
  • Regularly verify proper mix sequencing and that the mixer(s) are properly maintained
  • Ensure mixer and aggregate bin probes are calibrated and properly maintained
  • Calculate adjustments needed to correct the product if necessary
  • Support manufacturing team in producing the highest quality products
  • Visit manufacturing sites to test machinery and report proposed process improvements
  • Know all ASTM standards that apply and ensure all products meet these standards
  • Training and development of all production employees to include hourly operator quality checks as well as higher level QC/QA testing
  • Execute Daily Plant and Business Fundamentals
  • Willing and able to cross-train on other aspects of the production process
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

 

Job Requirements

 

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple operating instructions and safety procedures
  • Familiar with manufacturing lab equipment
  • Knowledge of ASTM standards for manufactured concrete products
  • Manufacturing/industrial environment experience preferred
  • Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee will be required to frequently stand on their feet for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds each, with assistance if needed, at heights from floor level to 4 feet high
  • Must wear company provided personal protective equipment - earplugs, hard hat, safety boots/shoes*, and protective glasses. Candidates must provide their own safety boots/shoes upon hire and will be eligible to participate in Safety Boots/Shoe Reimbursement Program after 30 days of employment
