An opportunity has presented itself for Qualified Locomotive Drivers to join our team in Mackay for a 6-month max term contract supporting the Wilmar Sugar season.

What You’ll Do

As a Locomotive Driver, you’ll play a key role in delivering freight safely and on time.

Reporting to the Supervisor, you will:

  • Operate Pacific National locomotives in compliance with safe working regulations and driver accreditation requirements.
  • Liaise with Train Control to ensure efficient train operations and schedule adherence.
  • Prepare and provision locomotives, including system checks and compliance documentation.
  • Perform minor maintenance and first-level servicing activities.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to meet operational needs.

What You’ll Bring

  • Accredited and fully qualified Locomotive Driver (Certificate IV in Train Driving).
  • Proven locomotive driving experience.
  • High regard for safety and compliance.
  • Positive, team-focused attitude with ability to work autonomously.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Current full motor vehicle licence.
  • Flexibility to work a 24/7 roster, including local and barracks work.
