Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Procurement: Develop and execute regional procurement strategies for logistics services across Europe (and EMEA as applicable), based in Munich. Scope includes transportation (inbound/outbound), warehousing/3PL services, last-mile distribution, customs brokerage (if applicable), and related logistics value-added services. Supplier & Stakeholder Management: Lead end-to-end sourcing, supplier evaluation, tendering (RFI/RFQ/RFP), contract negotiation (SLA/KPIs, pricing models), and ongoing supplier performance/relationship management. Collaborate closely with Munich-based stakeholders, European regional teams, and global HQ. Compliance & Process Adherence: Ensure all logistics procurement activities strictly adhere to the company’s global policies, internal control systems, and Germany/EU local regulatory requirements. Proactively identify and mitigate compliance, contractual, and operational risks (e.g., liability, insurance, claims, data/privacy where relevant). System & Operational Integration: Rapidly learn and become a super-user of the designated procurement and ERP/TMS systems, ensuring all processes are correctly followed and data integrity is maintained (e.g., vendor master, PO/contract compliance, spend visibility). Regional Travel: Approximately 25–30% travel across Europe to engage local teams, conduct market assessments, perform supplier site audits (carriers/warehouses), and drive cross-functional alignment and implementation.
Qualifications
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Finance, or related field. Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in indirect procurement with a strong focus on logistics categories (transportation, warehousing/3PL, distribution), with proven exposure to multiple European markets. Mandatory: Fluency in English (business proficiency). Strongly Preferred: Professional proficiency in German. A Significant Plus: Working knowledge of Chinese (Mandarin) to facilitate seamless communication with global HQ. Demonstrated experience in implementing and strictly following corporate procurement systems and processes (eSourcing, ERP, TMS), including tender governance and contract lifecycle management. Strong understanding of compliance frameworks and risk management within a multinational context (anti-bribery/anti-corruption, EU/Germany contracting practices, supplier due diligence). Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills; able to influence cross-functional teams and manage cross-border suppliers and internal stakeholders.
