About the Role

Local Doctors Ōtara is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team. As Tāmaki Health's largest clinic and now proudly operating as a 24-hour service, we provide accessible urgent care and general practice services to one of New Zealand's most diverse and vibrant communities.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy, fast-paced environment where no two shifts are the same. Working within a team-based model of care, you will support patients presenting with a wide range of urgent, acute, and ongoing healthcare needs while delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. 

We are looking for confident nurses who enjoy working autonomously, thrive in dynamic clinical settings, and are passionate about improving health outcomes for South Auckland communities.

What You Will Do

As a key member of our clinical team, you will:

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and provide safe, evidence-based care.
• Triage and support patients presenting with urgent, acute, and ongoing healthcare needs.
• Deliver culturally safe, patient-centred nursing interventions.
• Undertake clinical procedures including wound care, IV cannulation, immunisations, and other treatments within your scope of practice.
• Support urgent care presentations and assist in managing acute clinical situations.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Provide health education and empower patients to better manage their health and wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.

What You Must Have

• Current New Zealand Registered Nurse Annual Practising Certificate.
• Previous experience in Emergency Department, Urgent Care, or Acute Care nursing.
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
• The ability to manage a wide range of presentations in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence working proactively during shifts.
• Strong clinical documentation and computer literacy skills.
• Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand.

Key Skills and Experience We Are Looking For

• Urgent Care or Emergency Department experience.
• Wound care and clinical treatment experience.
• IV cannulation skills.
• Experience caring for diverse patient populations.
• A passion for delivering equitable healthcare outcomes.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
