Ideal candidate: current BCCNM-registered RN, at least three years of recent nursing experience in the designated clinical practice area with demonstrated mentoring and leadership training, valid driver’s license if required, and the ability to teach, coach and lead change. Key skills include trauma informed care, harm reduction, adult learning, strong communication and conflict resolution, CPR and proficiency with care information systems. JOB SUMMARY:Practices within the context of a client and family centred care model and in accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice for registered nurses, Code of Ethics and the established mission, vision, values, objectives and policies of the organization, including commitments to our pillars of Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Planetary Health, the Clinical Mentor role functions as an experienced clinical mentor, resource, and champion in the delivery of excellent client care to nurses and other team members. Working in conjunction with nurse educators, provides rapid elbow-to-elbow clinical mentorship and practice support for nursing staff. Utilizes experience and clinical skills to function as a clinical resource to formally advise other nursing staff in nursing practice, provides clinical instruction and supports staff training and development. Takes on a leadership role in performing functions such as mentoring staff to support skills development, and supporting clinical practice initiatives.QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Three (3) years recent, related nursing experience in the designated clinical practice area(s) including experience mentoring nursing staff as well as leadership training or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Driver's License and access to personal vehicle may be required. Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to provide clinical mentorship and clinical practice support.Demonstrated knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family centered model of care.Demonstrated ability to optimize scope of practice for designated patient population.General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
