Rentals Assistant at NZSki is a frontline guest service role based at Coronet Peak, The Remarkables or Snow Centre Queenstown, combining snowsports knowledge with safe, efficient equipment fitting and basic repair work. You’ll greet guests, fit boots, skis, boards and clothing, check gear for safety, keep the area tidy, and support stock takes, with shifts that can start at 7am or run into night ski and cover other departments when needed. What matters most is superb customer service, the ability to stay calm in a fast paced environment, strong teamwork, and a proactive approach to safety and maintenance. NZSki boasts one of the most modern and innovative rental fleets in the world comprising of the leading Head BYS system and the Burton LTR snowboards.

Our staff are an important part of our mountain's personalities and help us deliver on our purpose. The role of a Rentals Assistant is to provide our guests with a seamless service by assisting them onto the snow in suitably fitted snowsports rental equipment including ski's, snowboards & clothing.

About the role

• Greeting guests to the Rentals department and providing service with friendliness

• Fitting boots, skis, snowboards, clothing, helmets, wristguards and poles safely and efficiently

• Ensuring all rental items have been checked in accordance with all health and safety and set up requirements

• Doing basic repair work on snowboard bindings, boots, etc.

• Maintaining a tidy work area

• Stocktakes

• Report any new arising hazards or work incident and injuries

 About You

• Highly customer focused with the ability to adapt to the demands of the business

• Ability to provide a safe and efficient service in a very fast paced environment.

• The ability to engage and build a rapport with guests and staff quickly

• Strong teamwork skills and experience in frontline customer service

• Willing to assist in other departments and take on additional duties as required

• Previous experience or sound knowledge of snowsports equipment would be considered a definite advantage although full training will be provided

• An understanding that employment is subject to the vagaries of the weather and the hours of work cannot be guaranteed


Further Information

• Shifts will vary from early starts (7am start) to accommodate for schools and groups, to working split shifts and evening shifts during night ski (10pm finish).

• Positions available at The Remarkables, Coronet Peak and our rental outlet at the Snow Centre in CBD Queenstown - you can select your preference when you apply

• This will be different for the Remarkables, I normally just explain in the interview. Probably best we have separate applications as mine will be 4 days on 3 off except during school holidays and busy times, and we rotate through 7am or 8am starts.

• Latest possible start date of this position is 6 June – a later start is not possible.

• You need a valid work visa for the entire duration of the season (June – end of September (Coronet Peak)/mid October (The Remarkables). – No 3 month visa restrictions.

• No sponsorship visas available.
