Summary

Lead the assessment team for an on-going community cohort study (TECH Study) which includes conducting the following tasks: maintaining the manual of procedures, ensure sleep data is collected along with anthropometric measurement at follow up appointments (including participating in data collection).  Additionally, they will oversee the communication with participants who are undergoing data collection on the TECH and ESS studies, including responding to questions in evenings and weekends as needed. The will be trained in how to use our current technological systems for measuring children's screen use and will assist the team in implementing these assessments in participating children's homes for the ESS study.  Oversee the study REDCap database for three ongoing studies (HDHK, TECH, and ESS) in collaboration with the statistics core and team project manager. 

 

They will work with Dr. O'Connor to write manuscripts of the findings from the HDHK and TECH studies.

This position requires monitoring participant communications outside of standard business hours. Applicants must be willing to work weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) and occasionally evenings, as needed, to support participant engagement and project-related data collection activities.

Job Duties

  • Oversee and conduct informed consent procedures and data collection activities in the Center and participants' homes.  
  • Work with the Digital Assessment Core to oversee the use of accelerometers to measure sleep and physical activity among study participants of the TECH and ESS studies, including downloading and processing data. 
  • Work with the Digital Assessment Core to use FLASH TV and Chronicle app to measure participating children's screen media use.
  • Assist Dr. O'Connor to develop and implement procedures for projects to collaborate with the Digital Assessment Core in transferring data and technology from studies to the core, including MOPs for preparing and processing technology and digital media data collection. 
  • Help enter, monitor, maintain, verify, and update participant data in Access, Excel, and REDCap database systems.
  • Maintain records of data collection, including screening logs, demographic files, Center visits, and home visits.
  • Provide the Project Manager and Principal Investigator with reports on study progress, data forms, data summaries, and unanticipated events, as requested.
  • Assist with qualitative coding and analysis of interview transcription and translation.
  • Support administrative duties such as IRB submissions, IRB amendments, audit preparation, preparing study reports, and organizing and creating participant files.
  • Assist with manuscript preparation, including the opportunity to take the lead on a manuscript as first authors.
  • Adhere to Behavioral Nutrition Group and study guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Attend weekly lab meetings.
  • Attend three monthly investigator meetings for three ongoing federally funded studies: HDHK-H, TECH and ESS.
  • Provide regular updates on study progress at these investigator meetings.
  • Follow all study protocols.
  • Report any protocol deviations or study problems directly to Dr. O'Connor.
  • Assist with ensuring robust procedure for data collection, secure data storage and Adhere to regurgitations regrading human subjects research. 
  • Assist Dr. O'Connor with mainting the IRB protocols and submitting amendments to protocols as needed.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or a closely related field. 
  • Minimum of two years of experience in coordinating human subjects research studies.
