Job Description

The Griffith Centre for Mental Health brings together Griffith University researchers to drive innovation and collaboration in mental health.

Their work spans major national projects in areas like youth mental health, family support, and lived-experience research, supported over many years by key funding bodies, government, and industry partners.

As a Research Fellow Grade 2, you will play a pivotal role in the independent evaluation of the COMMAND-Well Project a landmark industry trial delivering a transformative leadership development program within a large police organisation. Working with Chief Investigators Dr Jacqueline Drew and Dr Jacob Keech, you will contribute to research that is shaping systems-level change in the management of psychosocial hazards and risks, with the potential to create safer, healthier workplaces at scale.

As a Research Fellow Grade 2, you will

  • Lead the design and delivery of a high-quality mixed-methods evaluation, developing robust procedures to assess the impact of this innovative industry trial.
  • Collect, analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to generate evidence-based insights that support organisational change and research excellence.
  • Translate findings into impactful outputs, including research reports, publications and presentations for academic, industry and governance audiences.
  • Work closely with project leaders, governance stakeholders and consortium partners, providing expert advice and contributing to the successful delivery of a world-leading trial.
  • Help foster a collaborative and high-performing research environment through supervision, professionalism and a strong commitment to ethics, integrity and best practice.

This is a fixed term until 5th July 2029, part-time (40%) position primarily based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan).  As Griffith is a multi-site university you may be required to work across other locations.

Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be Research Fellow Grade 2 range $117,076 - $139,031 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $136,979 - $162,667 per annum.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have a PhD or postgraduate qualifications combined with work experience in a relevant field, such as psychology, along with the skills and expertise to deliver high-quality evaluation research in complex applied settings.

You will;

  • Bring demonstrated experience in evaluating psychological or public health programs or interventions, including developing survey and interview data collection tools.
  • Have strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills, with the ability to generate clear, evidence-based insights.
  • Have a track record of producing high-quality research outputs, including peer-reviewed publications, research reports or other impactful outputs.
  • Possess a strong understanding of research ethics, data governance and the safe management of sensitive data.
  • Have knowledge of workplace stress, psychosocial hazards and risk, ideally within policing or other high-risk operational environments.
