Robotics and AI Institute is hiring Research Scientists for our Zurich location to push the boundaries of robot control, perception, autonomy and navigation, LLM/VLM, and hardware design through hands-on research. You will develop and prototype new ideas, contribute to publications at leading conferences, and translate research into real world robotic systems using model-based and data-driven approaches, collaborating with engineers to bring prototypes to life. Requirements include a robotics relevant BS/MS/PhD, 3+ years of R&D, strong RL/IL, perception, planning and state estimation skills, solid programming ability, and experience with locomotion and grasping. Responsibilities
- Research focused on advancing robotic systems by developing exciting new ideas and providing solutions to complex problems
- Collaborate on publications to be submitted at worldwide conferences
- Apply your and others’ research to real-world problems and state-of-the-art robots
- System Design using model-based and data-driven techniques
- Creatively apply modern learning algorithms to robotics
- Use your strong development skills to develop algorithms and improve systems
- Working with fellow researchers and engineers to develop prototypes
Requirements
- BS, MS or PhD in a robotics-relevant field
- 3+ years of experience in research and development
- Good grasp of a broad set of techniques related to RL/IL control, state and world estimation, perception, planning/navigation, LLM/VLM
- Strong development skills with at least one programming language
- Experience with systems that have complex physical interaction (locomotion & grasping)
Bonus
- Proven track record of publications in top-tier conferences and journals in Machine Learning, Robotics, or related fields (e.g. CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, TPAMI, IJCV, NIPS, ICLR, ICML, IJRR, RSS, SciRo, CORL etc.)
