We are looking for a Research Technician I to join our Performance Materials team in Wyandotte.

You will be a member of the PM Research and Development Group supporting R&D and various polyurethane development groups.  You will work with other team members to ensure all projects move forward according to the scheduled activities. You will be responsible for blending various chemical into formulation for machine and outside customer trials 

.

During your day shift as a Research Technician I, you will

  • Conduct research, testing, and data collection related to polyurethane processing and product development.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues related to polyurethane processing equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists to develop and improve polyurethane formulations, processes, and technologies.
  • Maintain, operate, and repair laboratory equipment, including mixers, pumps, and mix heads used in polyurethane processing.
  • Provide technical support to the development and production teams to enhance process efficiency and product quality.
  • Document experimental procedures, results, and observations, ensuring accurate records are kept.
  • Perform routine maintenance on lab equipment and assist with equipment upgrades and modifications as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements in all laboratory and processing activities.

If you have...

  • Minimum a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 - 5 years of hands-on experience in polyurethane processing and production.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in troubleshooting and maintaining polyurethane processing equipment or other mechanical experience. 
  • Understanding of chemical processing techniques, including mixing, molding, and curing. 
  • The ability to operate mobile equipment, hydraulic presses, and lift a minimum of 50lbs. 
  • Familiarity and experience with specific laboratory equipment such as Karl Fischer this would be a plus.
  • 2- 5 years of experience with low pressure, high pressure and continuous polyurethane processing equipment (preferred).
