MacKillop Family Services is seeking a Part Time Family Practitioner in Mildura for the Family Preservation and Reunification program, a Department of Families, Fairness and Housing funded mobile in-home support service designed to keep children safe at home. Reporting to the FPR Senior Practitioner, you will deliver intensive family support, early years and adolescent practice, holistic assessments and case management, and crisis response within a collaborative, culturally safe care model. Key criteria include extensive family centred experience with vulnerable families, knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005, and strong risk assessment skills. ABOUT THE ROLE:

Join a dynamic, evidence-based program funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, designed to keep children safe at home. This role sits within the Family Preservation and Reunification (FPR) Response - an innovative, mobile and integrated service delivering intensive, hands-on support to families, followed by ongoing care to prevent children entering or re-entering out-of-home care.

Working as part of a collaborative team and reporting to the FPR Senior Practitioner, you’ll play a key role in strengthening families, connecting with existing services, and contributing to a continuously evolving, sector-leading approach to child and family support across Victoria.

This is a Part Time (30.4 hours per week) ongoing opportunity based in Midura VIC within our Family Preservation & Reunification Program. The position reports to the FPRR Practice Leader.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

• Intensive Family Support - Deliver flexible, in-home outreach to improve family safety, stability, and wellbeing
• Early Years & Adolescent Practice - Support parenting, child development, and address complex adolescent needs using family-focused approaches
• Assessment & Case Management - Lead holistic assessments, deliver evidence-informed interventions, and monitor outcomes
• Collaboration & Engagement - Partner with families, services, and community networks for integrated care
• Cultural Safety - Provide culturally responsive, inclusive practice
• Practice Leadership & Quality - Contribute to high-quality practice through coaching, supervision, training, and continuous improvement
• Professional Practice - Deliver clinical support, maintain documentation, and engage in supervision and development
• Crisis Support - Provide responsive, flexible support including crisis and after-hours engagement

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Demonstrated and extensive experience and skills in assessment and clinical interventions and family centred practice with vulnerable children, young people and families with complex needs
• Sound knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and policies relating to child welfare and the Best Interests of the Child Practice Model.
• Highly developed skills in assessing risks, needs and safety for vulnerable children, young people and families.
• Highly developed interpersonal, communication, written, verbal and computer skills.
