Roadside Rescue Patrol - Huntingdon
The AAThe AA, the UK's largest motoring organisation, is seeking a Roadside Rescue Patrol to join its onsite team in Luton, ENG. This is a full-time role with an average 40-hour week and a range of shift patterns to fit your life. It’s a chance to represent a storied brand while helping members get back on the road when things go wrong.
In this role, you’ll be the friendly, capable face members rely on for roadside support. You’ll head out in a van, diagnose faults and implement practical fixes so drivers can continue their journeys. You’ll work independently at different locations and in varied conditions, but you’ll be backed by a supportive team and the tools you need to succeed. If you enjoy hands-on work, clear communication with customers, and solving problems under pressure, you’ll likely feel at home here.
On the road with the AA
Your day starts when you climb into your van and you’re paid from that moment until you return home. You’ll cover a range of locations and weather conditions, using your technical knowledge to steer each encounter toward a positive outcome for the customer. While you’ll often work solo, you’re part of a broader network that backs you up when needed, and you’ll bring a calm, practical mindset to handle the wide array of roadside challenges.
Most calls are problem‑solving in real time, identify the issue, apply the right fix, and communicate what you’re doing clearly to the member. You’ll need to stay adaptive, use the tools provided, and keep safety front and centre as you navigate the road and the unexpected.

Advice for applicants
Lead with your qualifications: place your NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an equivalent hands-on credential, at the top of your resume, followed by your full Category B licence with six points or fewer.
Show off real-world problem‑solving: give a concrete example of a roadside fault you identified and resolved using your technical skills and clear customer communication, demonstrating how you kept the driver calm and informed.
Be ready for the interview to cover solo work and weather conditions: describe how you manage safety, time, and customer interactions when you’re the only technician on site, and how you stay productive across a variety of locations.
Ask about scheduling choices: inquire how standby hours are set each year and how you can shape them to fit your personal life, since you can choose standby preferences to suit your lifestyle.
