Bottomline Technologies is seeking a SaaS Platforms Ops Engineer to build a centralized capability for its global SaaS payment platforms, based onsite in Reading. The role centers on automation, change management, monitoring, and rapid incident recovery to drive scale, resilience and availability. You will configure alerting, create and maintain runbooks, enable one-click service recovery, deploy new services, and produce uptime reporting, with participation in an out of hours on-call rota. Ideal candidates have SWIFT or SIC operations knowledge, Windows and Linux server administration, SQL/API experience, and automation with Jenkins, plus solid SOPs and stakeholder communication. Role

We are looking for SaaS Platforms Ops Engineer to innovate, win and grow with us in Theale! 

Platform Operations are building out a new centralised capability to run and improve our new generation of SaaS-based payment platforms is a strategic imperative which will play a major part in defining, implementing, and operating new capabilities. The team are responsible for the day to day running of a suite of global SaaS platforms that are central to our growth including: capacity management adherence to change management process and automation and monitoring across the complex technology estate.

The ideal candidate will have real world experience working in a global operation, be fanatical about repeatable process and automation, and understand the challenging choices needed to create scale, resilience, security and availability. Further, this role requires a business-savvy individual who can manage complex situations with stakeholders and clients. 

How you’ll contribute:

• Alerting and Monitoring: Scope, configure and regularly review alerting and monitoring to ensure rapid notification and resolution of production incidents.
• Platform Incident Recovery: Service restoration during Incidents. Create, validate, and update service recovery runbooks. Collaborate with application experts to deliver processes that facilitate “one-click” service recovery capabilities.
• Platform Change: Configure and deliver new services to the platform. Create, validate and update runbooks for standard changes.
• Platform Availability: Develop availability and uptime reporting. Drive improvements in platform uptime.
• Always Available Platform: Participate in the out of hours “on call” rota to ensure industry-leading incident response is in place for any production issues that may arise.

If you have two or more of the qualities and skills listed below, we would like to hear from you.

• SWIFT and/or SIC operations knowledge,
• Good communication skills (fluent in English, German would be beneficial)
• Formal training in Computer Science or IT
• Server administration experience on a Windows Server and Linux environments
• Experience working with SQL, SQL Server and API technologies.
• Automating tasks using scripts or automation tools such as Jenkins
• Ability to create and follow Standard Operating Procedures
• Configuring monitoring tools, implementing alerting (Elastic, Graphana, etc.)
• A strong desire to work in a technical environment.
• Ability to learn quickly in a technical environment.
