We’re looking for a Safety Intern to join our American Ordnance team located in Middletown, IA. This internship provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, focusing on workplace safety compliance, hazard identification, training support, and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will gain practical exposure to safety programs aligned with regulatory standards such as those established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

 

As the Safety Intern, here’s the work you’ll do:

  • Assist in conducting safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments on the manufacturing floor.
  • Support incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Participate in updating safety procedures, policies, and job safety analyses (JSAs).
  • Analyze safety data and prepare reports with recommendations.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through employee engagement activities.

 

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Understand regulatory compliance requirements in manufacturing.
  • Gain experience in industrial hazard identification and risk mitigation.
  • Develop professional communication skills within a production environment.
  • Apply classroom knowledge to real-world safety challenges.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

And if you have these qualifications: 

  • Enrolled in College or University pursuing degree in Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Great attitude and team player.
  • Successful completion of background and drug screening process.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $22.00 - $ 24.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
