JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sanitation Team Leader is responsible providing consistent leadership, supervision, and motivation to the sanitation team members. Excellent communication skills are required as the Sanitation Team Leader is the main contact point for all employees in the sanitation department. Sanitation Team Leaders must respond proactively to ensure the smooth operation of the sanitation process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all team members are following OH&S and FSQA standards.
- Coordinate with the Sanitation Supervisor and/or Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the process.
- Troubleshoot issues and work with Quality, production, and maintenance teams to ensure all standards are maintained.
- Ensure the team is following all SOPs and GMPs.
- Provide coaching and training to team members when required.
- Follow strict Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures/Guidelines.
- Follow basic generic sanitation standard operating procedures: Remove excess soil, pre-rinse, foam, rinse, inspect, and sanitize.
- Assembly and disassembly of equipment, including moving and lifting parts up to 50lbs.
- Working with harsh chemicals regularly.
- Handling large high-pressure hoses, and cleaning equipment.
- Exposure to warm temperatures and humid conditions.
- Working with grinders, augers, and blenders.
- Performing work while on the floor, platforms, and 3-point ladders.
- Supervision and partnership with external 3rd party contractors.
- Performing tasks in various areas of the plant as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong FSQA and OH&S focus.
- Basic understanding of industrial cleaning chemicals.
- Previous experience leading/supervising a team of 20 or more employees.
- Shift expectation – 9-hour shift plus weekend overtime when necessary.
- Proven leadership, team building and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, co-workers, and Managers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively lead, motivate, coach, mentor and resolve employee conflict.
- Ability to accurately maintain detailed records.
- Be success-driven and have a “can do” attitude.
- High degree of flexibility and adaptability to take up additional duties and cross-train.
- Ability to assess and prioritize.
