Job Summary

 

The SAP Functional Architect – Requisition to Pay (RTP) is responsible for the end‑to‑end design of sourcing, procurement, inventory, and vendor management processes across SAP. As the accountable owner of the RTP functional architecture, the Architect ensures that procurement flows from requisition to vendor payment are standardized, compliant, efficient, and fully integrated with warehouse, finance, and supply chain systems. Partnering closely with the Product Owner, the RTP Architect evaluates business needs, ensures fit‑to‑standard adoption, and designs scalable solutions that reduce cycle times, strengthen internal controls, and enable reliable supplier collaboration. The role also governs data quality, vendor master standards, invoice reconciliation logic, and integration patterns with EDI partners, ensuring that enhancements and regulatory changes are delivered safely and consistently across all plants and functions.

  • This role will work hybrid out of our office in the Sandy Springs, GA area. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Architecture & Standards:

  • Define RTP target state (MM Purchasing, Inventory Mgmt. Invoice Verification), catalog/contract patterns, and approval workflows.
  • Enforce clean‑core (standard first; BTP extensions when needed).
  • Approve functional/integration designs and WRICEF scope with reusability and lifecycle controls.
  • Ensure traceability (requirements → design → test → deploy) and documentation that meets SOX/SoD requirements.

 

Vendor & Compliance: 

  • Govern vendor master design, tax and 3‑way match controls (VI-PO-GR), and release strategies (where applicable) align with SoD and audit requirements.

 

Integration: 

  • Oversee interfaces to suppliers, EDI networks, WMS/TMS, and finance, error handling, and monitoring.

 

Data & MDM: 

  • Set data quality rules for vendors/materials; validate mapping, cleansing, and cutover.

 

Testing & Readiness: 

  • Define RTP E2E scenarios (PR→PO→GR→IV→Payment), regression packs, and performance/NFRs.
  • Participate in PI/Sprint events; align with the Product Owner on backlog priorities and architectural enablers.

 

Collaboration with Product Owner

  • Guide feasibility and fit‑to‑standard; articulate debt vs. value trade‑offs; ensure ServiceNow demand contains clear design artifacts.

 

Key Deliverables

 

Target Architecture & Blueprint Deliverables

  • End‑to‑end process architecture for the functional domain
  • SAP Target State Design covering standard vs. extensions
  • Functional Blueprint Document (process flows, variants, decision logs)
  • Cross‑module architecture with OTC/PTC/PTP integration points
  • Integration contracts (API/IDoc mapping, sequencing, error handling)
  • Non‑Functional Requirements (performance, security, auditability)

 

WRICEF & Build Design Deliverables

  • WRICEF inventory + complexity scoring + dependency mapping
  • Approved WRICEF Functional Specifications
  • Prototype configurations, demo scripts, and design validation materials

 

Master Data Deliverables (in collaboration with MDM Team)

  • Master data standards (materials, vendors, etc.)
  • Support to conversion mapping documents (legacy → S/4HANA)
  • Cutover data load requirements + mock load execution criteria

 

Testing Deliverables (in support of QA Team)

  • End‑to‑End (E2E) business scenario catalog
  • SIT test scripts with cross-domain flows
  • UAT business scenarios, acceptance criteria, and test evidence
  • Regression test packs + automation candidates for future releases

 

Deployment Deliverables

  • Cutover plan inputs (sequence, dependencies, freeze windows)
  • Functional readiness checklists
  • Production validation scripts
  • Hypercare playbooks + issue triage protocols
  • Business stabilization metrics (defect rate, bounce‑backs, rework)

 

Job Requirements

 

  • 10–15 years SAP MM/RTP experience in SAP (Purchasing, Inventory Management, Invoice Verification, Vendor Management).
  • Strong experience in 3‑way match, invoice reconciliation, tax determination, and vendor payment cycles.
  • Expertise designing procurement flows: direct materials, indirect procurement, services procurement, subcontracting, consignment.
  • Deep knowledge of vendor master, purchasing org structure, catalogs, source lists, PIRs, outline agreements, and release strategies.
  • Experience with EDI procurement, ASN processes, supplier portals, and supply chain collaboration tools.
  • Skilled at designing material master governance, valuation types, units of measure, MRP‑relevant fields, and classification.
  • Experience with cross‑module integrations (PTP, OTC, PTC).
  • Hands‑on experience guiding Functional Leads and AMS in configuration, testing, and defect RCA.
  • Knowledge of controls & compliance: tax, SoD, audit standards, invoice tolerances, GR/IR handling.
  • Experience supporting UAT, regression, cutover, and hypercare in multi‑plant deployments.
  • Ability to govern clean‑core, BTP extension strategy, and integration architecture.
  • Executive‑ready communication, decision facilitation, and risk articulation.
  • Ability to mentor Functional Leads and elevate the CoE’s maturity.

 

Preferred

 

  • SAP S/4HANA MM certification.
  • Experience in supplier risk, procurement analytics, or guided buying tools.
  • Background in high‑volume manufacturing procurement.
