Job Summary:
The School-Based Miscellaneous employee primarily provides supplemental student supervision support and coverage before, during and/or after the school day. Additionally, this role may also be utilized to support other areas of supplemental and/or ad hoc support on a temporary, short term basis to assist with overall school operations (e.g., supplemental tutoring, backup phone and reception support, social media, backup clerical/ data entry/filing support, school activity and recruitment support, etc.), excluding work that requires a valid ISBE license.
The School-Based Miscellaneous employee will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
· Provide student supervision support and coverage, such as hallway and building monitoring, recess, lunchroom/lunchtime, in-school suspension, study hall, bell time entry/dismissal (inside and outside), field trips, Early Childhood classroom coverage during breaks and prep periods, etc.
· Assist with parent outreach and support
· Assist with supporting overall school operations (e.g., supplemental tutoring, backup phone and reception support, social media, backup clerical/ data entry/filing support, school activity and recruitment support, etc.)
· Other duties as assigned
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the School-Based Miscellaneous employee must possess the following:
Education Required:
· High school diploma or GED equivalent
Experience Required:
· Minimum of two (2) years of related support experience, including the following, is required:
o Experience providing customer service and interacting with customers
o Experience working within an education, community outreach, public service environment, or similar organization
o Experience supervising children in an organized setting
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a diverse student body, staff members, and families, maintaining a supportive and professional demeanor
· Ability to actively and effectively monitor students in various settings (e.g., recess, hallways, lunchrooms, school grounds) to ensure safety and adherence to school expectations
· Ability to function as a reliable member of the school team, assisting with tasks as assigned
· Ability to remain flexible and responsive to the fluctuating needs of a school environment, including assisting in different roles throughout the day
· Ability to learn and adhere to all relevant school and district policies, procedures, and expectations
· Strong communication skills (speaking, listening, and writing)
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to frequently move/transport supplies, boxes, or other objects weighing up to 25 lbs between office locations for various needs.
