Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.
The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.
Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer is responsible for protecting employees, visitors, equipment, facilities, and other company assets across RMGC property. This role supports safe and efficient site operations through access control, radio communications, CCTV monitoring, patrols, incident response, and refinery-related security duties. The successful candidate maintains a visible, professional presence, uses sound judgment in dynamic situations, and consistently performs in alignment with Kinross values and site safety expectations.
• Protect employees, contractors, visitors, and company assets through proactive security coverage across RMGC property.
• Control site access by verifying identification, authorizing entry, managing badging processes, and maintaining accurate visitor and vehicle records.
• Monitor CCTV systems, radios, phones, scales, and other security-related equipment to identify, communicate, and document unusual or suspicious activity.
• Conduct routine patrols of operational areas, offices, gates, and refinery locations to help prevent theft, vandalism, unauthorized access, and other security risks.
• Respond professionally to incidents, alarms, emergencies, and security concerns, completing timely and accurate reports and escalating issues as needed.
• Assist with basic security investigations in coordination with site leadership and, when appropriate, outside agencies.
• Communicate clearly with employees, supervisors, and cross-functional departments to support site security, safety, and operational continuity.
• Maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and consistently demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong attention to detail.
• Support department effectiveness by training peers as needed, sharing knowledge, and contributing positively to team performance.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements related to safety, environment, confidentiality, and code of conduct.
• Meet performance expectations, maintain regular attendance, and work assigned shifts, including a 7 on / 7 off schedule and on-call support when required.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a related field preferred.
• Mining experience preferred, with a general understanding of mine operations and industrial work environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and timely reports.
• Ability to remain alert, exercise good judgment, and respond effectively in emergency or high-pressure situations.
• Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, dependability, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Working knowledge of computers and common business software; ability to learn site systems used for reporting, access control, surveillance, and communications.
• Must become site driving certified and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Must attend required hazardous identification training within one year of hire.
• Must obtain certification as a Breathalyzer Alcohol Technician within one year of hire, if required by site operations.
• Must maintain all required certifications, training, and qualifications applicable to the role.
• Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including extended standing, walking, and working in a mining environment while wearing required PPE.
