Key Objectives

To ensure all accounting entries within the individual’s area of control (i.e. project, contract, service line) are recorded in an accurate and timely manner. This involves the provision of timely reporting of financial data internally to business stakeholders and externally to the client. Furthermore, financial reporting will extend to forecasts, budgets and a “no surprises” outlook, together with ad-hoc financial analysis & business partnering. This may require the management of a small team of accountants and this role is appropriate for larger, more significant projects, contracts or service lines.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Management of all accounting entries to ensure they are prepared accurately and in line with corporate deadlines.
  • Management of invoices to ensure they are prepared in a timely manner and in accordance with the commercial terms of the contract.
  • Ensure results are accurately reported and analyzed.
  • Effective management of the accounting team
  • Calculation of billing and cost rates, and analysis of margins to manage profitability.
  • Preparation and management of annual plan and quarterly reforecast in conjunction with Business Management and Finance team.
  • Responsibility for compliance with financial management Framework within the individual’s sphere of control 
  • Focus on cash collection, optimization of DSO and minimization of unbilled items together with ensuring these balance sheet areas are appropriately reconciled, analyzed and controlled.
  • Liaising with external, internal and client auditors
  • Linkage with business manager and contracts administrator regarding any contractual aspects
  • Execution of various ad hoc financial analysis and tasks as and when required.

Internal: Project / Contract / Service Line team, Finance team, Commercial, Supply Chain, Internal Auditors 

External: External Auditors, client team

 

Level of Influence and Decision-Making Authority:

  • Limited decision-making responsibilities around financials 
  • Some influence around members of the team

Expected:

  • Further education through College or University with a recognized accounting qualification
  • Preferably Qualified CIMA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent 

 

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • 3-4 years project accounting experience [Total experience: 5-7 year]
  • Experience in budgeting & forecasting
  • Big 4 Experience (Preferable)
  • Proficient user of Excel & PPT (Power BI is a plus)
  • Financial modeling
  • People supervision and management skills
  • Good commercial knowledge
  • Good systems experience (e.g. Oracle Cloud)
