Senior Aero-Thermal Engineer at Danfoss Turbocor in Tallahassee will shape the next generation of centrifugal compressors by spanning experimental testing, design, and validation across the development lifecycle. You will translate customer needs into robust solutions, develop performance tests, analyze aero-thermal data, and generate maps guiding the work. The ideal candidate has a Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years in advanced fluid mechanics and compressor design, hands on with 1D meanline tools such as COMPAL, CFD software like CFX or NUMECA, and strong CAD/CAE skills plus collaborative communication. To apply, tailor your resume to highlight lab testing and compressor or chiller work, quantify impact, and show you thrive in an inclusive environment while noting onsite availability and interest in global opportunities.

The Impact You'll Make

At Danfoss Turbocor, you’ll help shape the next generation of high-efficiency compressor technologies that power more sustainable cooling solutions worldwide. Your expertise in aero-thermal engineering, testing, and design will directly influence product performance, innovation, and energy efficiency.

In this role, you will work across the full product development lifecycle, from translating customer needs into technical solutions to validating designs through advanced testing and analysis. You’ll collaborate with a highly skilled R&D team to solve complex engineering challenges and bring new technologies to market.

Based in Tallahassee, Florida, this is an opportunity to combine hands-on laboratory work with advanced simulation and design tools while making a measurable impact on industry-leading centrifugal compressor products.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the experimental and theoretical evaluation of centrifugal compressor performance, helping drive product innovation and efficiency improvements.

  • Develop and execute compressor performance test plans, while overseeing testing activities in laboratory environments to ensure high-quality results.

  • Analyze aero-thermal test data, generate performance maps, and create technical reports that support product development and future engineering decisions.

  • Design and optimize new compressor products using CFD, CAD, and meanline analysis tools, translating engineering concepts into robust solutions.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance testing capabilities, laboratory processes, and engineering methodologies that improve product validation and development outcomes.

What We're Looking For

  • Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience in advanced fluid mechanics and the design of industrial centrifugal compressors.

  • Hands-on experience with 1D meanline design tools (such as COMPAL) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software such as CFX or NUMECA.

  • Strong knowledge of CAD/CAE tools, aero-thermal analysis, and engineering product development processes.

  • Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment.

  • Experience with compressor or chiller testing and refrigeration cycle analysis is valued.
