Job Description

About the role:

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you’ll design, build and maintain the analytics and business-logic layer that sits on top of our enterprise data platform (Microsoft Fabric).

You’ll transform trusted source data into reusable, governed analytical models that enable accurate reporting, self-service analytics, and advanced decision-making across the business.

Working closely with Data & Analytics, IT Data Engineering, and stakeholders across Commercial Finance and Operations, you’ll translate complex business rules into scalable, high-performance analytical solutions.

This is a hands-on role that combines deep SQL modelling capability, analytical thinking, and strong stakeholder collaboration.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Develop and own reusable business logic and analytical transformations
  • Build and maintain semantic models within Microsoft Fabric to power Power BI dashboards and self-service reporting
  • Optimise models for performance, scalability, and usability
  • Partner with BI Analysts to ensure models support insight and reporting requirements

Advanced Analytics & Optimisation

  • Design and implement analytical logic for use cases such as rostering optimisation and scenario modelling
  • Apply Python where appropriate to support automation, optimisation and advanced analysis
  • Translate complex business needs into clear, explainable analytical solutions

Collaboration & Data Strategy

  • Work closely with IT Data Engineering to leverage and extend core data assets
  • Partner with stakeholders across Commercial Finance and the broader business to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Contribute to evolving analytics standards, modelling best practices, and team ways of working

Data Quality, Governance & Enablement

  • Ensure models align with governance, documentation and quality standards
  • Reduce duplication by centralising logic within governed analytical layers
  • Mentor and support capability uplift across the Data & Analytics team

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data, IT, Computer/Data Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in analytics engineering, data analytics, or similar
  • Advanced SQL-based data modelling expertise
  • Strong experience with Power BI, including semantic modelling and performance optimisation
  • Experience building complex analytical logic beyond standard reporting
  • Working knowledge of Python for analytical or optimisation tasks
  • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills
