Wētā Workshop is seeking a Senior Architect to lead the architectural design and technical development of immersive themed entertainment projects for a 12 month fixed term in Wellington. The role drives design from concept through construction, runs structured design processes in line with RIBA AIA NZIA, collaborates with clients, creatives and other stakeholders, oversees technical delivery and construction administration, and mentors the design team. Requirements include at least eight years’ architectural experience in large scale commercial work, ideally themed entertainment, proven ability to lead projects across all phases, strong technical knowledge and registration. This role will lead the architectural design and technical development of immersive, themed entertainment projects through all phases – transforming creative vision into built reality.

We’re keen for someone who understands that environments that we create require more than technical skill – they require imagination, collaboration and precision, with the ability to translate story and concept into space.
We want to hear from people with at least 8 years' architectural experience in large-scale commercial design work - ideally you'll have direct themed entertainment design experience, but that's not essential. You will need proven ability to lead projects through all phases of design and delivery.
You will be skilled at managing recognised design processes and have strong technical knowledge, alongside an ability to mentor junior team members.
You will also need to have a relevant architectural qualification and registration.
