Overview
As a Senior Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of the Beauty category within our fashion e-commerce platform. You will be responsible for developing and executing effective buying strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, analyzing market trends, and ensuring the timely availability of high-quality products at competitive prices.
This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the retail & beauty industry, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver sales, margin, and growth targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Buying & Procurement
- Develop and implement category-specific buying strategies to achieve sales, margin, and profitability targets.
- Source, select, and purchase products aligned with the company’s brand vision and customer preferences.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and exclusivity with suppliers to secure competitive cost structures.
- Oversee the end-to-end procurement process including purchase orders, shipment tracking, delivery coordination, and vendor compliance.
2. Product & Vendor Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while identifying new vendors to enrich the product portfolio.
- Secure exclusive launches, collaborations, and promotional opportunities with leading and niche beauty brands.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure consistent quality, compliance, and on-time delivery.
3. Market Analysis & Trends
- Conduct continuous market research to stay updated on global and GCC beauty trends (skincare, makeup, fragrance, wellness).
- Category and region analysis to identify category gaps and opportunities.
- Use data and insights to guide assortment expansion, pricing strategies, and seasonal initiatives.
4. Inventory & Financial Management
- Maintain optimal inventory health to balance sell-through, avoid overstocks, and reduce markdown exposure.
- Review sales performance regularly and adjust buying strategies to maximize turnover and profitability.
- Collaborate with finance on budget planning, margin tracking, and cost-saving initiatives.
5. Collaboration & Team Leadership
- Partner with merchandising, marketing, content, and supply chain teams to ensure successful product launches and campaigns.
- Lead, coach, and mentor junior buyers or assistants to develop category expertise and support succession planning.
- Represent the Beauty category in cross-functional meetings, aligning with wider business goals.
