Job Description

Senior Civil Engineering role delivering high quality technical design and engineering projects across three water infrastructure throughout the Hamilton and Waikato region. In this role, you will be a key part of the local Hamilton team, providing hands on design, modelling and documentation activities supporting project delivery – including reticulation networks (gravity and pressure), pump stations, storage and associated balance of plant components.  

This senior level role provides you with the opportunity to make a local difference contributing as part of the Hamilton team to the growth of AECOM’s reputation and track record across three waters projects and portfolio with a focus on the Waikato region and clients such as Hamilton City Council.  This engineering and design role supports the team through enabling delivery excellence and growing local government and regional council client’s relationships across Hamilton and the Waikato region.  

You will be providing local project engineering and design capability, assisting with technical and design approaches that focus on local client and project needs, with the support of the local Hamilton AECOM team.  In addition, you will have support and be able to learn from technical and design teams available throughout New Zealand and globally.  Working with remote teams to support technical and delivery excellence, applying leading water solutions locally will be an important part of your role.

  • Deliver designs, models, calculations and documentation for water, wastewater and stormwater projects both locally across the Waikato, and further afield.
  • Understand, apply and develop your understanding of the relevant New Zealand standards, codes and council specifical requirements to three water design, drawings, reports and technical notes.
  • Build relationships across other disciplines within AECOM to support the integration of technical expertise, for project delivery.
  • Support project delivery excellence through a high-quality approach, supporting verification activities and timelines, including building and developing your technical expertise.
  • Proactively support and build client relationships, as a trusted advisor, dealing with queries related to design and engineering projects.

Qualifications

You will be an experienced Water Engineering, known for your problem-solving ability, technical understanding and delivery focus of complex requirements across critical three waters and related projects.

  • Experienced in three waters infrastructure delivery with 5+ years in the engineering, design and delivery of three water infrastructure projects ideally in network design (gravity and pressure), pump stations, storage and balance-of-plant projects.
  • Ideally holding, or working towards, a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) designation or equivalent international accreditation, supported by a relevant tertiary qualification in Civil, Environmental or Engineering discipline.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across engineering and water disciplines, both locally in Hamilton, throughout New Zealand and with other AECOM global experts as required.
  • Client relationship and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships – ideally with experience working with Hamilton City Council and other clients across the Waikato.
  • Knowledge and an understanding of relevant NZ water and infrastructure standards, ideally including specific local requirements applicable to the Waikato region.
