We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Data Modeller to join our Group Data & AI Office (GDAO) Team at Royal London. The role leverages the capabilities of the GDAO to enable the business to deliver its data driven outcomes, through the design, analysis and delivery of high quality, well governed enterprise data assets (on Cloud), that drives digital use cases, effective decision making through feature engineered data products, and self-service analytics.

 

The Royal London Enterprise Data Model (EDM) is a valuable digital asset that exists as a conceptual, logical and physical canonical model on the cloud hosted Enterprise Data Platform. Forming the core data in our Databricks hosted Lakehouse medallion architecture. This role will support the ongoing maintenance, optimisation, expansion (vertical & horizontal) and execution of the roadmap for the EDM, including all sub-domains. The ultimate outcome is to build a critical mass of highly valuable and consumable customer, product and proposition data assets in the model. This role would require a specialism in Data modelling methodologies and/or data Lakehouse design approaches, to ensure we produce scalable modelled data for our analytical stakeholders and digital use cases.

 

About you:

  • Excellent data modelling and enterprise-wide data architecture understanding and skills
  • Strong and demonstrable specialist knowledge of domain based data modelling with complex source to target mappings to support batch, near real-time and streaming/event based architectures.
  • Proven track record of working on Data Modelling engagements for complex, multi-vendor programmes and matrix led engagements.
  • Strong experience of Data Warehousing concepts, such as; Kimball, Inmon, data vault, star schemas, fact/dimensions, OLAP, lakehouse architecture, detailed design specifications, entity-relationship diagrams.
  • Data Modelling tools (ER/Studio, Erwin, Sparx EA)
  • Knowledge of Cloud Data & Analytics services on Microsoft Azure, such as Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • ETL concepts: data cleansing, change data capture (CDC), integration, mapping, extraction, transformation and loading.
  • Experience of close working with third party authorities and MSA suppliers & partners
  • Excellent and proven communication of technical information
  • Full and extensive experience of agile practice an implementation both in delivery and data design arenas
  • Good understanding of regulations/legislation within the financial services market
