Mercury is hiring a Senior Designer to own and evolve its website, ensuring clarity, consistency, and craft across all pages while bringing the brand to life through storytelling, motion, and interaction on mercury.com. The role requires an AI-first mindset, close partnership with marketing, product, and engineering to take concepts from idea to production, and contributions to design systems and documentation that scale. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of design experience, a robust portfolio, and a clear point of view on brand, typography, layout, motion, and web interaction, plus comfort iterating with cross-functional teams. Include a deck or portfolio, demonstrate systems thinking, and if a password is required, include it in your application or on your resume.

In 1954, architect Eero Saarinen designed a radically modern bank branch for Irwin Union in Columbus, Indiana. With glass walls, no private offices, and a floor plan that invited openness, it embodied a new kind of transparency in finance. The building was surrounded by trees, furnished by Herman Miller, and featured rustic brick flooring. Today, that space is a conference center, and that spirit of design-forward thinking in banking feels all but extinct.

Mercury believes that level of care and craft in design has been lost in modern finance and we’re building a brand that brings it back. We're a financial technology company building products that feel extraordinary to use. We help people and businesses accomplish more with their money by turning banking* from a frustration into a catalyst for their ambitions.

We’re looking for a Senior Designer to help shape how Mercury shows up visually, emotionally, and creatively across our website. Someone who thrives in a highly collaborative environment where the best ideas drive progress, not the most powerful voices in the room.

*Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Own and evolve Mercury’s website, ensuring the brand shows up with clarity, consistency, and craft across all pages and features.
  • Shape visual design, motion, and interaction across mercury.com to bring Mercury’s brand to life through storytelling and experience.
  • Elevate brand expression through opinionated visual design and reusable web-focused asset libraries.
  • Lead with an AI-first mindset in web design and production workflows.
  • Partner closely with marketing, product, and engineering to take concepts from idea to polished production.
  • Help define and maintain design systems, frameworks, and documentation that enable scale and consistency.
  • Contribute to high-level creative and brand strategy discussions with cross-functional and executive partners.
  • Give and solicit feedback to raise the bar for quality, craft, and clarity across the design team.

What you’ll bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in design, art direction, or visual communication, with meaningful experience owning websites or digital brand platforms.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual range, systems thinking, and high-quality execution across web experiences.
  • Deep experience designing, evolving, and maintaining marketing or content-driven websites.
  • A strong point of view on brand, typography, layout, motion, and interaction for the web.
  • Comfort working iteratively and incorporating feedback from cross-functional partners.
  • Experience defining motion principles or lightweight animation systems for web experiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate closely with engineers and design within front-end constraints.
  • Strong communication skills and experience presenting, workshopping, and advocating for creative ideas.

Include a deck or portfolio of your best work with your application. If a password is required, be sure to add it in your application or on your resume.
