Purpose:
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Designer . Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Sudbury, Ontario.
The candidate will provide electrical engineering / design services on small to medium projects for the Electrical discipline and interface well with the customer and coordinate with the rest of the project team.
Self-motivated individuals with a desire to solve complex engineering problems, show effective team leadership and communication skills will be ideally suitable for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Manage electrical engineering services that meet Worley's, its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
- Electrical design and drafting for the assigned project, interacting with other disciplines.
- Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports.
- Produce work packs and drawings.
- Preparation of Material Take-off and Basis of Estimate.
- Ensure that the level of design work is appropriate for the complexity of the construction tasks.
- Liaison with other disciplines on technical issues and incorporate comments.
- Knowledge and compliance with Worley / Client drafting procedures and drawing systems and applications.
- Knowledge of document control drawing systems.
- Maintaining records of drawings and other documents.
- 3-D modelling and extraction of drawings from model.
- Preparation of as-built drawings.
- Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system.
- Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its Customer's requirements.
- Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:
- Experience in Minerals and Metals industry necessary.
- Surface and U/G Mining Experience including shaft sinking, subsurface utilities.
- Knowledge of HV/MV Substation (Indoor/Outdoor), Substation communication architecture, including teleprotection, telemetry, and experience in working on similar projects.
- Excellent technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its clients.
- Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the electrical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
- Excellent knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications.
- Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and electrical engineering specific software.
- Extensive technical and practical experience in electrical engineering in the same or similar industry including experience in working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
- 10 - 15 years of engineering experience in electrical engineering.
- Knowledge of Instrumentation would be an asset.

Strong knowledge on the development of the following deliverables.
- MV and LV systems.
- Single line diagrams, schematics, interconnection and wiring diagram.
- Layouts – lighting and grounding, cable routing design.
- Substation and MCC design.
- Area classification per code requirements.
- Electrical calculations.
- HVAC, Ventilation, and Fire Alarm/control system Experience.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, regulations, and practices.
- Team player, with excellent organizational, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Proficiency with 3D modeling software including PDS, MicroStation, Smart plant, and Auto-Plant.
- Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:
- A Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Design / Drafting from an accredited institution.
- Minimum Fifteen (10) years of direct Electrical design and engineering experience.
For applicants based in the province of Ontario, the salary range is $101,328 to $119,209 CAD.
