Are you passionate about food safety, supplier excellence, and driving quality standards across international supply chains? We are looking for an experienced and highly driven Senior FSQA Manager – Fish & Seafood to join our international Food Safety & Quality Assurance team. The role is based in Berlin. In this role, you will take full ownership of our Fish & Seafood category, working with suppliers across Europe and South East Asia. This is a highly international category requiring close collaboration with global partners and cross-functional teams including Procurement, Sourcing, Supply Chain, and Distribution Centres across multiple markets.
You will drive food safety and quality compliance, implement best practices, lead supplier performance improvements, and ensure we consistently deliver safe, high-quality products to our customers.
Frequent travel is required, including international travel.
As the owner of the Fish & Seafood category, you lead food safety and quality management across international suppliers and serve as the subject matter expert on legislation, product risks, shelf life validation, freezing processes, labeling, and import requirements
Through regular on-site audits and supplier approval visits across Europe and South East Asia, you ensure compliance with EU food safety regulations and internal quality standards
You take full ownership of supplier performance metrics, including complaints, out-of-spec deliveries, compliance KPIs, and corrective action follow-ups, driving accountability and measurable improvements
By applying structured root cause analysis, you investigate quality incidents and implement robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
With a strong focus on customer impact, you drive strategic quality improvement initiatives aimed at reducing complaints and increasing satisfaction
In close collaboration with Procurement and Sourcing, you support supplier negotiations and contribute to long-term supplier development and continuous improvement
From onboarding new suppliers and products to establishing standardized best practices, you harmonize ways of working across international markets and ensure full compliance with food safety, legal, traceability, and quality standards
5+ years of experience in Food Safety and Quality Management within the food industry, ideally with strong exposure to fish and seafood production, processing, or supply chains.
Solid knowledge of EU food safety legislation and seafood-specific risks (e.g., histamine, parasites, freezing requirements), as well as international supply chain structures
Proven experience auditing food manufacturers against GFSI-recognized standards such as BRC, IFS, or FSSC 22000
HACCP certification required; additional food safety qualifications are considered a strong plus
Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken) and the ability to influence and negotiate with suppliers across different cultures
Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 20–30%) and ability to thrive in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder, and multi-market environments
Strong analytical and organizational skills, combined with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset and solid Google Suite / MS Office capabilities (Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides, Word/Docs)
