Synopsis
The Senior Manager – Technical Records and Configuration Control is responsible for the implementation, integrity, and continuous management of airworthiness records for the Etihad Airways fleet, ensuring full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including GCAA CAR M.305 and CAR M.714,
The role encompasses oversight of aircraft and engine configuration control processes within the Maintenance Information System, ensuring data accuracy, traceability, and regulatory conformity for asset control.
Additionally, the position is responsible for meeting the relevant aircraft and engine entry into service and end of lease delivery requirements. Strong stakeholder engagement is essential, including effective communication and coordination with internal leadership, regulatory authorities, external agencies, and service providers to ensure alignment with operational, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
Accountabilities
- Establish, govern, and continuously enhance maintenance records processes and standards to ensure full compliance with GCAA CAR M.305, CAR M.714, IATA Operational Standards and applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Lead the end-to-end coordination and oversight of maintenance records data collection for aircraft lease transactions, acquisitions, transfers, and redeliveries.
- Direct the evaluation, acceptance, and integration of maintenance records for newly acquired aircraft (from manufacturers or previous operators), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and contractual lease obligations.
- Directs and manages aircraft induction, redelivery, and records compliance with lease agreements
- Ensure robust tracking, validation, and retention of airworthiness and maintenance records.
- Govern the integrity and accuracy of configuration data for aircraft, engines, major assemblies, and components within the Maintenance Information System (MIS).
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging industry best practices, digitalization and technology solutions to enhance performance, data accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide strategic input during commercial and contractual negotiations to optimize service delivery and resource utilization.
- Establish and enforce governance frameworks, policies, and controls to ensure sustained compliance with airworthiness standards and regulatory obligations.
- Lead departmental budgeting and resource allocation to ensure cost-effective delivery of services while maintaining compliance and operational excellence.
- Support the organization in the development and continuous enhancement of policies, procedures.
- Promote a safety culture through reporting and continuous monitoring of Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) and effective management of change, including organizational, procedural, and technological transformations.
- Ensure adherence to the Safety and Quality Management Manual (SQMM) and actively contribute to organizational safety and quality initiatives.
- Monitor and drive departmental performance to consistently achieve and exceed defined targets.
- Participation in internal and external audit programs, ensuring timely closure of findings and continuous strengthening of compliance and assurance frameworks.
- Develop and lead teams by providing coaching, training, and development opportunities to enhance capability, drive efficiencies, and support career progression.
People Management Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop teams through subordinate managers, ensuring roles, resources, and team structures are aligned to meet functional priorities and operational requirements.
- Enable managers to lead their teams effectively by providing direction, support, and oversight across the function.
Key Stakeholders
- Internal: Technical Division leaderships; Technical Contracts; Aircraft Programs, Fleet Planning, Technical Operations; Finance; Safety and Quality; HR; IT.
- External: Multiple Aircraft Operators, Aircraft Manufacturers, Aircraft and Engine Lessors; Aircraft and Engines Maintenance Organizations; UAE GCAA.
Qualifications
- Relevant Engineering Degree, Electrical, Mechanical, aerospace and/or Maintenance Engineer License
- 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in airline Continuing Airworthiness organization focusing in Technical Records.
- Experience in leading managers or team leaders in high pressure organizations.
- Airworthiness Regulations and Compliance - Expert knowledge of GCAA and EASA CAR M, Part M, CAMO, Part 145 and IOSA.
- End-to-end governance of aircraft, engine, and component records ensuring completeness, accuracy, and traceability
- Aircraft and Engine Lease - Expert knowledge in aircraft and engine induction, redelivery and record compliance.
- Aircraft Maintenance Program Knowledge - Strong understanding of AMP, LLPs, and component control
- Records and Asset Value - Understands records impact on aircraft value, lease conditions, and commercial risk
- Leads teams, develops competencies, succession planning, and performance culture
- Decision making and Risk management - Makes informed decisions balancing safety, compliance, and cost
