Transport for NSW is recruiting three Senior Service Manager Urban Design roles in Sydney onsite. You will lead a specialist urban design team within Active Transport Design & Activation, raising design quality across precincts and delivering clear executive guidance. Transport for NSW’s Urban Design team drives the integration of urban design and design excellence into Transport's policies, strategies, projects, and programs, while supporting Active Transport Design & Activation outcomes across the network.

It builds partner capability through defines project requirements, technical standards, toolkits and guidelines, and evaluation frameworks, and engages key stakeholders and government agencies to ensure consistent, high-quality place outcomes.

In this role you'll

• Join the Active Transport Design & Activation branch within the Planning, Integration and Passenger division of Transport for NSW.
• Lead a specialist urban design team to further enhance design quality and city-making across Transport's precincts, interchanges, transit-oriented developments and corridor projects, driving high-quality, community-focused outcomes at scale.
• Drive the strategic integration of urban design into policies, frameworks and project delivery.
• Champion collaboration across Transport, government agencies, and external design teams to shape vibrant, liveable, multi-modal transport environments aligned with government priorities.
• Develop high-impact advice, briefings and technical reports for Senior Executives and Ministers, translating complex design considerations into clear, strategic recommendations.
• Lead, mentor and sponsor a high-performing urban design team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

About you

You're a senior urban design leader with a strong portfolio spanning complex infrastructure, public space and transport environments. You hold tertiary qualifications in Urban Design, Architecture or Landscape Architecture and bring extensive experience delivering integrated, wholistic outcomes.

You're equally comfortable influencing at the executive level and guiding external design teams on the ground. You balance vision with pragmatism, navigating competing priorities, stakeholder expectations, and policy constraints without losing sight of quality outcomes and liveability.
