About the Role

 

As Senior Trade Overseer, you'll lead the mechanical maintenance operations, mentor Overseers and develop inmates through practical workplace training that supports rehabilitation and future employment. You'll plan and coordinate maintenance, manage resources and budgets, drive continuous improvement, and ensure safe, efficient, high-quality service delivery across the correctional complex. What you’ll do:

  • Lead, coach and mentor Overseers to achieve operational outcomes
  • Plan and oversee mechanical maintenance across the correctional complex
  • Train and develop inmates in practical trade skills and work readiness
  • Promote a safe, professional and quality-focused workplace
  • Manage resources, budgets and workflows for efficient service delivery
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and Corrective Services NSW policies
  • Support offender rehabilitation through the Work Readiness Program

Essential Requirements

 

  • Relevant trade or tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III level in the following): Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker
  • Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or capacity to complete within 12 months
  • Ability and willingness to work across trades as required
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle while performing the role
  • Must be willing to participate in 24/7 on call roster where required
  • Experience which demonstrates the ability to meet the key accountabilities and focus capabilities as detailed in the role description
