Job Summary
The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for planning and scheduling activities for assigned bids/projects/programs against an approved baseline (PMB). The role ensures effective monitoring and control of deliverables, schedule risks, workload and costs, and supports management decision-making through robust reporting and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain integrated project schedules (baseline and updates) using contract documents, WBS, cost and resource loading.
Lead progress measurement, critical path management, schedule updates, and performance reporting (weekly/monthly KPIs).
Conduct schedule risk analysis (SRA) and probabilistic scheduling; apply PERT/critical path methods and acceleration concepts.
Support Earned Value set-up, tracking, variance analysis (schedule/cost) and reconciliation of estimate vs forecast vs actuals.
Prepare delay analysis and support claims/EOT with Commercial; draft planning narratives and substantiation.
Lead stakeholder coordination (Client/Consultant/PM) to mitigate schedule risks and avoid delays.
Own the quality of project controls deliverables: schedules, cost reports, dashboards, and planning procedures.
Contribute to risk management (risk register updates, contingency discussions) and portfolio/resource capacity planning.
Engineering Degree (e.g., Electronic/Telecom/Computer or relevant).
Strong expertise in Primavera P6; advanced Excel/MS Office.
10+ years planning/project controls experience, including rail/metro projects preferred.
Proven experience in schedule control, risk analysis, delay/EOT support, and stakeholder management in complex environments.
Fluent English (Arabic is a plus).
Willingness to work in the Middle East and travel as required.
Preferred
Experience with Communications & Control / Security / Passenger Information / Comfort systems in metro/rail environments.
Professional certification(s) in planning/scheduling.
