Full-time
On-site
Abu Dhabi, AE

Worley, a global player in energy, chemicals and resources, is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team. This is a full-time, on-site position that sits within a company with a long track record of guiding clients through the full asset lifecycle, from design to decommissioning. The role targets someone who can lead process engineering efforts within a multidisciplinary environment and partner with clients who expect technical excellence and practical solutions. The requisition code for this opening is ABU02FN.

The job centers on delivering robust process design for onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities, with a strong emphasis on feasibility and concept design, field development studies, and revamp or debottlenecking work. You’ll operate under the Senior Manager, Process Engineer and collaborate across disciplines, vendors and clients to ensure designs meet ADNOC VIP / VAP assurance processes and API standards while staying aligned with budgets and schedules. Worley highlights a culture that supports sustainable outcomes and values a diverse, inclusive workplace where people can belong, be themselves and be heard.

Anyone who brings a deep background in process engineering, especially in oil and gas, and is comfortable working onsite in Abu Dhabi with travel to field or operating sites, would likely feel at home here. The company looks for engineers who can communicate clearly, document well, and contribute to both technical and safety goals while advancing projects from concept through to delivery.

What you’ll do day to day in this role

In this capacity you’ll steer the process discipline on assigned projects, shaping the scope and coordinating with other engineering teams to ensure the work aligns with client design bases and regulatory expectations. Expect to develop and review data sheets, specifications and operating data, and to evaluate and integrate vendor documents and technical queries. You’ll participate in bids and help keep design changes within the approved budget and schedule, while mentoring junior designers and coordinating with procurement, construction and commissioning activities. You’ll build and present progress updates, maintain rigorous checking procedures, and drive the production of final technical deliverables that clearly communicate design intent to clients. Throughout, you’ll infuse the work with operational practicality and HSSE considerations, and you’ll support site input to ensure constructability and maintainability are baked into the design. The role also involves contributing to studies, feasibility assessments and concept selections, and assisting with contract input and documentation as needed.

Beyond the desk, you’ll assist in the preparation of technical reports and operating manuals, review related documents, and liaise with other engineering disciplines to ensure the design integrates smoothly. You’ll support procurement and construction teams by providing technical guidance on the specifications, data sheets and change management needed to keep projects on track. You may be called upon to travel to field locations to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and ensure the design remains practical in operation and maintenance terms.

Must-have requirements, then nice-to-haves

To qualify, you’ll hold a full-time Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and bring at least 12 years of process design experience in the oil and gas sector, with exposure to both greenfield and brownfield projects in onshore and offshore settings. You should have a solid grasp of field development and adequacy studies, and you’ll need a proven ability to meet scope, cost and time targets in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

You must know ADNOC VIP / VAP assurance processes and API standards (API-520, API-521, API-14C, API-14E) and have a strong understanding of how these apply to both onshore and offshore process design. Experience with processing highly sour production fluids and a willingness to travel to site for operation support are essential. Proficiency with process simulation tools such as HYSYS, PROII and FlareNet, plus HTRI, is expected, with a preference for applicants who also have exposure to dynamic simulation. A background in pipeline modeling using OLGA, Pipesim, Pipeline Studio, Pipephase or Pipenet is advantageous. Strong report writing and communication skills are also a must, and a full-time Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is non-negotiable.

Desirable extras include the pursuit or possession of Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, and experience in ammonia and hydrogen plants or refinery processes. Industry-specific background that covers feasibility and conceptual engineering, field development, option selection studies, debottlenecking and revamp projects, and licensor packages would help you stand out. Proficiency with the listed IT tools, plus the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear client-facing documentation, rounds out the profile Worley is looking for.

Pay, benefits and practical details

The role is full-time and on-site in Abu Dhabi City, working within Worley as an Employee at an individual contributor level. The position reports to a Senior Manager, Process Engineer. The company notes that you may be required to travel to field sites as part of the job, and there is a clear emphasis on safety in all activities. The job posting history shows it was published on October 10, 2026 and remains ongoing.

Advice for applicants

Put your 12 years plus of process design experience right at the top of your resume, and lead with your strongest offshore and onshore project examples where you guided field development, feasibility work or debottlenecking efforts. If you’ve worked on projects that required ADNOC VIP / VAP processes and API standards, describe the exact standards used and the outcomes you helped achieve, including any data sheets or operating manuals you produced.

When you describe your must-have skills, pair each claim with a concrete project moment: which simulation tools you used (name the package) and a result you delivered (for example, a design change that saved time or reduced risk). If you’ve supervised process designers or reviews, mention how you ensured quality and alignment with client Basis of Design and regulatory requirements. This is your chance to show that you can lead, mentor and coordinate across disciplines while maintaining rigorous documentation standards.

Prepare for interviews by talking through a real decision you made in a challenging design scenario, ideally one that involved highly sour fluids, offshore considerations, or licensor-packages. Be ready to discuss field development concepts, option selection studies and how you handle changes in scope without breaking the project’s schedule. A smart question to ask could focus on how the team balances licensor requirements with Worley’s engineering standards on current Abu Dhabi projects, or how they prioritize HSE commitments across multiple sites.

Finally, think about how you’ll demonstrate your communication strengths in interviews. You’ll need to articulate complex technical ideas clearly, both in writing and in presentations, so bring examples of reports or manuals you authored and be prepared to discuss how you tailor messages for different audiences, from clients to site engineers.
